He had a reprieve, if he'd been someone else he'd have been in prison for his plan to attack schools and churches. Instead, well, you know the outcome. A minor domestic violence charge and a dad that blames the system for failing his white son and taking away custody his child, just because they said he wasn't a fit father. After all, he loved the kid, the kid was his world! Even if he wanted to go shoot up some other school kids and churches, and he had choked out the kids grandmother. He was a good son.

The dad is in denial. The problem was untreated mental illness. And, he should never have been given back his guns. He was a danger to society and himself.

Some advice, don't take CNN too literally. They're not in it for the truth, just the ratings.

ETA: As an aside, his initial plan to shoot up schools an churches fell in the aftermath of Sandy Hook. How they let him fall through the cracks will forever be a mystery to me. Luckily no one else loss their life, but him. Not that he should have, he should have been in treatment for his mental illness. Except we can't do that here in the US unless it's court mandated, and his wasn't. It cost too much and you can't charge fines and fees to get someone mental health treatment. Unlike sending them to jail and sticking them on probation.
