(18,652 posts)I am involved in a local catfight to protect a small open space that the town gave away, illegally, to a developer. The people responsible and the people who covered it up (2/3 the same) are repugs. Two (legal) parties and three intervenors are now in court over approval of a settlement that boils down to: the town approves the worst kind of wetlands development.
I am an intervenor fighting this little fight and here is the rub: I am before a judge appointed by our Dem gov. Judge is doing flips to be fair. But he knows this whole issue involves an illegal giveaway of the property by repugs, who have kept our region in their sleazy hands for 25 years, b/c I've made it clear the "standard operating procedure" is in full force in our town and this development/settlement is just one example. SOP being certain things repugs do to obtain and remain in power-by-despotism.
This election has just given me more passion to let the repugs know it is not over, we are still protesting in our own little ways.
And even if our little trio loses in court, we put up a good fight and led the way for younger others to follow. The intervenors are 2 in their 60's and one 75 y.o.
