The damagin stereotypes representing mental illness are perpetuated in both news (everytime there's a mass shooting) and entertainment media, as well as what we hear from the most ignorant of bigots. Is the claim that people with mental illnesses should be feared. Is that not the point in furthering this narrative about 45? We should fear his leadership because he has dementia, or mental illness. Why participate in ableism when the point can be made he is intellectually unprepared to be president and he doesn't seem to care. That is something to worry about.
It is not necessary to inspire fear that there is the equivilent of some kind of evil villain out of a psychological thriller in the WH.
People with mental illnesses live their lives knowing that if they mention that part of their lives, they will become a horror movie archetype in the minds of most people. It is indeed cruel for that to not matter.
