(841 posts)There are some people for whom politics is about catharsis. Loudly declaring that all politicians are crooks and that you don't vote, or voting for a crank third party candidate that you know won't win is a way for some people to vent their anger at the system. A lot of the people at JPR seem to fit into that category. I actually think they enjoy never finding candidates that are pure enough for them.
Besides, even if their favorite got into office they would eventually disappoint them by "selling out" due to the realities of working within the system. If Sanders somehow won in 2016 he would be called a sellout as soon as he had to bend to get something done or made a statement the hardcores didn't like or whatever. In fact, some people called him a sellout for supporting Clinton in the general election.
