8. Well, yes, they don't call Social Security the third rail of politics for nothing

From a conservative brain point of view, preserving social security because it has "always" existed, therefore taking it away will scare them. Which is why Bush couldn't do it in 2004. And why conservatives hated Obamacare in 2008, then started to like it in 2016 when they contemplated life without it.
