We are now cautiously optimistic that this issue is on its way to being cleared up. The cause was not malicious, but a technical problem with some third-party software that is used to protect DU behind the scenes.

It is possible that members will still see the occasional Cloudflare "520" error going forward, but if this happens then simply reloading the page should make it go away.

We also haven't had any further reports of Star Members seeing ads, and we hope this continues to remain the case.

However, if you are a Star Member and you start seeing ads, or if you are seeing "520" errors regularly, we would like to know about it as soon as possible so please report it to Elad or myself, either via DU Mail, or email.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

Some Star Members are seeing ads while logged into DU. This is not supposed to be happening. We're working right now to resolve it.

The problem is affecting people at random, and appears to be intermittent. If you start seeing ads, they may disappear again after a while.

Some people may also have run into intermittent "520" error pages. Again, we're working on a fix for this. If you refresh the page, the error should clear immediately.

We'll update you when we have things back to normal, and I apologize for the screw up.
