Other options are reduction in grade, debarment from federal employment for a period not to exceed 5 years, suspension, reprimand, or a civil penalty not to exceed $1,000.
And the decision about what penalty to impose is a matter of administrative discretion.
So those yelling prosecute, lock her up, etc. are just demonstrating their lack of knowledge of the law. She'll get a warning, which is what happens the vast majority of Hatch Act violation cases. Findings by the OSC that the Hatch Act has been violated are not uncommon. Dismissals are very uncommon.
