(41,145 posts)61. How awful! Sorry for your mother, you and family. Some of the
psychotropic meds like Wellbutrin (related to Chantix maybe) cause bizarre side effects on some people and got a bad reputation, I think. The way powerful meds are easily dispensed and overused in prisons, nursing homes and other instances is disturbing and dangerous. These days you have to be careful about some meds, do a little homework especially with the large increase in prescription drugs in the last decades and much advertising and some iffy regulation. I'm not at all ant-medicine, people just need to know themselves and get good background info.
