7. And here we have the true cusp of the issue

Instead of waiting for weak kneed politicians to come on with legislation that would be weak sauced at best, we the people have to take matters in our own hands. First step, curb our consumeristic urges.
A conservative friend (a true conservatives, not the nazis of today) once said to me in regards to social welfare programs: Why should I do for another what they are unwilling to do for themselves. This struck me is a truism. In this case I think it is as well a truism.
