9. I don't think so much "developed" as "released"

The main thing is the bat that is the normal host for this is not found within 800 miles of Wuhan.

But the bat -- and the virus -- were both known to be in the lab.

I suppose an infected bat could move along the chain-of-commerce and end up in Wuhan, but the way wet markets work is it is people making a little extra money on the side and selling/capturing local flora and fauna. So most everything is local. Think a really gross local farmers' market.

In my nine and a half decades on this planet, I suspect simple human stupidity and greed. Like maybe some flunky at the lab decided to make extra money selling bats he was supposed to put in the incinerator.
