What are their out-of-pocket costs? Most will have public defenders, paid by taxpayers. When they are brought back to DC for a hearing, their flight is paid for by the government. The defendants also get paid a per diem to cover meals and lodging, I believe.
They may lose a few days pay. Some have had to post bail. Except for those paying personal lawyers, it has not been very expensive for them so far, I believe.
