In reply to the discussion: Mitch McConnell says a national abortion ban is 'possible' as GOP candidates dodge topic [View all]Whatthe_Firetruck
(566 posts)51. I think you're right...
...they only SAY they want it banned as a form of virtue signalling. But if an unwanted pregnancy happened to them or a family member, even if they are virulently anti-choice, they still sneak off to get one.
I post this on DU every so often... [link:https://joycearthur.com/abortion/the-only-moral-abortion-is-my-abortion/|]
We have anti-choice women in for abortions all the time. Many of them are just naive and ignorant until they find themselves with an unwanted pregnancy. Many of them are not malicious. They just havent given it the proper amount of thought until it completely affects them. They can be judgmental about their friends, family, and other women. Then suddenly they become pregnant. Suddenly they see the truth. That it should only be their own choice. Unfortunately, many also think that somehow they are different than everyone else and they deserve to have an abortion, while no one else does. (Physician, Washington State)

I do not believe that most women in the U.S.A. want ..."abortion to be banned"...

Same around here. Most of the outspoken, anti-abortion people I know are women.

All they did was flex the "control" muscle, much like the Taliban reinstating the burka.

Anyone pregnant with the Turtle's child, should definitely be an exception in the law.

I love how "quiet" the GOP is right now. Slinking along hoping not to make any noise.

I think a lot of Republican politicians are actually worried as they used abortion as a hot button
