Some mind reading trick. But the truth of the matter is I moved back to my home in Canada in 2002 after the USA invaded Iraq. I marched many miles through Boston in order to protest the upcoming war, and saw B* on Tv denouncing all the hundreds of thousands of Americans as some "focus group". The day the invasion actually took place I walked into my boss's office and told him I was heading back home, and walking away from an 80K/year job. He said he wished he could join me.
After I moved back I spent the next several years decompressing and really didn't pay much attention to the 2004 elections, although I had a strong feeling B* would win again, and felt Kerry was a very weak candidate to take him on.
I will give you this: I don't recall anyone making much of a fuss over Kerry's vote on the IWR. Maybe 2 years into the war the true horror over one of the most costly and foolish blunders in American history had yet to sink in? Maybe if he were running for POTUS today people would be more critical? Or maybe it IS because people are looking for something to bash Hillary with, and maybe another candidate wouldn't be criticized like this.
I don't know the answer, and you don't either, but I do know this: the invasion of Iraq was a great evil, voting for the IWR was WRONG, and once the invasion occurred politicians should have had the courage to speak out against it.
