In reply to the discussion: DISTURBING. RAW. Police bodycam shows police pepper-spraying 15yo girl following a bicycle accident [View all]Helen Borg
(3,963 posts)20. I watched the full thing on YouTube...
When I read about it I was outraged, but after watching this I have to acknowledge that the policemen were quite professional in this case. She was pepper-sprayed after she was asked several times to keep her feet in the car so they could close the door and go. Charging her with anything is excessive though, as obviously she was confused and did not get that she had to be checked, even if she "felt" OK. Her reactions are natural, and the policemen did their best to manage the situation. Perhaps they could have tried harder to talk to her, but in the video it's clear that they tried many times to talk with her in a calm manner...

OP
This was an open and shut case of what we used to call "police brutality".

She ran a red light and hit a car. The police were so worried about her they had to wrestle (LINK)

Stupid handling by cops, but she should be detained and sent to medical facility for evaluation

Really? If this was your daughter? She was handcuffed and pepper sprayed for being black.

"There was no gratuitous use of force here." Okay, you must have seen a different video.

The problem is that instead of taking her to a medical facility, the took her to the PD and detained
