8. Narrow aisles mean more seats!

For years airlines have been reducing seat width, legroom, and aisle width to fit more seats into each plane. The result is cramped passengers, short tempers, and mostly unpleasant flying experiences--this at a time when Americans have mostly been getting larger! The aisles are so narrow that anyone already seated in an aisle seat regularly gets hit in the head by passengers carrying shoulder bags. We desperately need something in this country like a high-speed Eurail system. If the airlines had a bit of competition, they might improve their attitude toward customers.
