She has well-controlled Addison's disease and is getting up there for a dog her size, so I really struggled over whether she should have a "sibling." I was afraid she'd feel left out or jealous. The result has been the opposite. She now runs and plays and looks and acts so frisky. I'm not sure it's added any time to her life, but it has made her life happier. They often sleep together with their legs around each other. Now I wish I had done it sooner. So worth it. That said, still all dogs and situations are different. I've dog-sat several dogs over the years and my older girl was just "meh" about another dog. I think the new one has to be the right one and you never know, it's hit or miss.
