19. shootings in chicago down first quarter

Jul 2014

donP: In Chicago we don't allow any form of open carry and even our new concealed carry laws are pretty strict.
I haven't seen a single post from you or your ilk about the 29 people shot in Chicago last weekend, mostly minorities, and pretty much every other weekend too.

Well, last weekend (june/july abouts) wasn't the first quarter, but looks like we have dueling progun banjos, & of course concealed carry groups are attributing the drop to concealed carry in chicago:

abc news apparently: July of 2013, Illinois became the last state in the union to enact a concealed carry law. In January of this year, the state began accepting applications for permits. This week {april}, Chicago police announced that the city’s first quarter murder rate was the lowest since 1958. (DOES ANYONE SEE THE ILLOGIC HERE???)

The first three months of the year saw 6 fewer murders than the same time frame in 2013–a 9% drop–and 55 fewer murders than 2012 {albeit cherry picking = lying with statistics)
There were 90 fewer shootings and 119 fewer shooting victims, drops of 26 and 29 percent respectively..
Compared to the first quarter of 2012, there have been 222 fewer shootings and 292 fewer shooting victims. Overall crime is down 25% from last year, and police said more than 1,300 illegal guns were recovered in the last three months.

Well which is it, donP???? should we be worried about Chicago's high number of shootings? or happy that shootings are down in chicago?
You can't have it both ways. As much as you try to do.

donP: Some people might even suggest you and your tiny band of "friends" had totally messed up priorities, worrying day and night and fretting about some fat white guys walking around with rifles in a Wal Mart somewhere, while ignoring real people actually getting shot.

Again with the hyperbole. I don't know of a single gun control advocate who worries day & night about fat white guys walking about walmart with rifles. Invite some of them to discuss on this board, donp. Nor do we ignore real people who get shot.

Misleading? No open carry allowed and these are typical weekend numbers for Chicago DonP Jun 2014 #7
