If not for Schumer and Reid agreeing to kneecap any potential Democratic challengers to Sanders in VT in exchange for his vote, I'm not sure we'd even be in this mess. Schumer, at least, should be able to leverage Sanders' committee involvement on behalf of Democrats beyond 2016 to get Sanders to tone down the hateful rhetoric he's been spewing lately, not just about Clinton, but all Democrats.
