Bill Maher has donated $3 million over the years to super PACs to elect Democrats. I guess Democrats are beholden to Big Maher now, he's the "donor class." He donated because he's on the same team. If he thought only about his money and not paying taxes, he'd give money to Republicans and vote for them.
Demonizing the wealthy who donate to Democrats, attributing supernatural corrupting powers to money used to pay for campaigns and assuming moral corruption is inevitable because of it, is not helping anyone except Republicans, who win when people think both sides are the same and don't vote (one reason). Rich people give fundraisers all the time for all sorts of things.
