Democratic Primaries
In reply to the discussion: Who did you vote for in the 2008 Democratic primary. [View all]MH1
(17,901 posts)11. Don't recall who was on the ballot.
I was an early supporter of Richardson but I think he dropped by the time it got to my state.
I also may have switched to Obama by then. I was an enthusiastic supporter of Obama at least as soon as it became clear he would most likely be the nominee. I liked him from the beginning but at first thought Richardson had a stronger portfolio.
One thing I learned from that - charisma matters. It has to be charisma that is effective across the board for key voting cohorts. For example, BS is for some reason very effective with younger voters, but falls off with older voters. Since older voters have higher turnout, always, this is a problem for BS. He also seems to fall off with AAs and that is a bloc we need for big cities in swing states.

primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden

I liked Edwards at first, too. I backed Clinton, wanted her to win in 2008, thought Obama could run

It was a win but it would of been better had Obama ran in 2016 AFTER Hillary's very successful

Clinton, but on the record as saying there wasn't much daylight between her and Obama...

Clinton all the way and I figured Obama could be after her and he'd of been more experienced at that

I didn't vote since I was moving and literally driving my things between counties.

Obama. I liked HRC (still do) very much, but saw something very special in Barack Obama
