I'm sorry to say that I've seen several interviews with both these candidates and I just don't get their appeal. That is not to say that both would be a vast improvement over the current President. They would.
But I just don't see how they rise above any of the several excellent candidates already running. I've watched interviews with Harris. Warren, Booker, Sanders, Klobuchar and others. They all seem so much more substantive on issues and policy. I'm not seeing this with Buttigieg & O'Rourke. Maybe I've seen some bad interviews for both. But their main argument seems to be 'vote for me because I'm a good guy'.
Thus, it is a mystery to me why they have generated so much excitement. There seems to be a whiff of cult of personality around them rather than genuine support based on their positions on important issues. What I've seen is a lot of style from both but little substance.
President Obama had a lot of style but there was substance behind that. I'm just not seeing that with either Buttigieg or O'Rourke. Again, maybe I have just seen bad interviews with them. If there are better ones, I'd love to see them. But at this point, I think we have far better candidates with much more substance than either of these two. This is not to put them down, both would make a much better President than Trump. And I would gladly vote for either if they were the nominee of the Democratic party.
primary today, I would vote for: Joe Biden
