I never thought that I would be part of the fight for democracy. Actually, our democracy is gone already. You don't need me to repeat all the reasons that it's true as you visit DU and are well aware of most of them. Look no further than the lawlessness of the DOJ under Barr, where criminality is officially political. Any façade has long since been abandoned and the lawlessness is right in your face. If you still aren't sure we are living in Fascist times what do you think the Republicans were doing/saying when they decided to abandon the normal process of having an outline for beliefs and principles called a platform usually debated on the convention floor at best or printed and disseminated to the public in the fashion of the times. That is over. No platform for the Republican Party. Only Trump. Whatever he wants, whenever he wants it. What he wants is to be like Vlad. Stealing the riches of the government. Turning as many public services into private control which he doles out to his friends for a piece that sweet oligarchical pie. If he remains in office under any circumstances the great USA experiment will be over. Is there any doubt that he will lock up Hillary Clinton? Also, charge Obama with treason and try to send him to prison? The answer to those and all horrifying questions is Yes. Again I could go on, however, you are are here at DU and understand that what I say is true and that there is countless other examples how we have already slipped into a pre-Fascism stage that will go full throttle if he remains in office.
Therefore, it is this generations time to save America. We need to be the people that history will look back on when describing how close we came to the edge of the abyss and in the face of a deadly virus, Nazi like tactics, armed militia, white supremacists, and a police presence that cannot be counted on to serve and protect. In spite of Russian bots, voter suppression and intimidation, we must stand up or be gone. If not us, who? I never thought I would be part of a fight for democracy. I wonder if you ever did? Stealing the election will not be easy. If we determinedly vote in numbers never seen before we can defeat the Fascism monster and at a minimum restore hope to a majority of the good people who live here. Then we have to get to work on that more perfect union.
One day will they say that our generation, this generation, saved democracy?
What are we to think?
Over the last month I have been reading reports from all over the world of under reporting the death toll. I linked a Huff Post piece below, however, a quick Google search will show you many more.
Have we begun to see it happening here, right now, as states open up to more infections? How is it possible the death toll would be going down? Using google.com/covid19/map as my reference for US deaths here are the reported US deaths over the last 5 days:

I have never been embarrassed by my State until today. What is happening the capital city of Lansing is something out of science fiction. You know the story where the ignorant actions of a few endanger the live of the many. It must be seen to be believed. Freep.com will get you there. Those who love this country may not want to watch.
