Reach Out to Trump Voters

This is a bit old. But it's a good article nonetheless.

I'm of the mindset that if we collectively demonize and shun Trump voters that we are giving them what they actually want - or what they have been instructed to seek by their mind-controlling "media" sources. They're being instructed to completely shun anyone who disagrees with their worldview - that anyone with an alternative view is not to be trusted and is not a "real" American. How can we move forward as a country in this fashion?

In my eyes it's better to engage them in open discussion without yelling and name-calling. Try to find common ground away from political discussions first. Then admit to some weaknesses in your party's platform (and there are plenty to choose from). This softens their view a bit about you as a person. Then you can begin talking about REAL facts.

Allowing tribalism to fester unchallenged runs the risk of eventual armed conflict.

It's On in Indiana

Got back from casting my Indiana ballot a while ago. Voted at 11 a.m. I had to wait in a small line. When I left, line was bigger. For my tiny precinct at 11 a.m. for a primary election - this is significant.

Interesting things are a-happening.

BTW - I felt the Bern!

DEMOCARACY AWAKENING

This was promoted last month. But I fear it died before it got a lot of views. I didn't see it. But this is HUGE. We need to repost this all over the place, rec like crazy, etc. And PLEASE feel free to start another post with this topic.

An upcoming DC rally will demand our Democracy to be restored. It will be historic! It's less than a month away.

If my link doesn't work, just copy and paste. Feel free to post a comment with a working link. (Mine have not worked in the past.)

Let's do this America! http://democracyawakening.org/

It's Inevitable

Something I've been thinking about since Trump's rise to the top. Does anyone else think a president like him OR like Bernie is inevitable if not in this go around, then in 2020, 2024, etc?

Here's my logic. People on both sides of the political aisle are P..I..S..S..E..D off at the establishment. They have varying reasons, but the sentiment is there.

Let's say for the sake of the argument that Hillary becomes President. The anti-establishment libs will be very reluctant to trust her. And no matter what she does, the interests of big money will not take a back seat to the interests of the people if she's in office. So that anger will not go away.

Meanwhile in Breitbartland, the anti-establishment cons will light themselves on fire in anger, an anger which will be fueled by right-wing extremist websites, Fox, etc. And it will make them even MORE determined to win in the next go around.

And THAT'S when someone who watched Trump's rise this year - a rise that defies all intelligence - starts to think "A-ha! I can con these people even better if I plan things out in advance!" The same people who are crazy about Trump might go crazy about him/her. And if he uses his head, he might bring some libs along for the ride and just get the job done! I mean Trump has had to do VERY little work to rise to the top. Imagine what a schemer could do!

This TRULY frightens me! As everyone knows, Hitler didn't rise to power in just one election. It took years and years of planning and scheming. Who says that guy isn't out there right now rubbing his hands in gleeful anticipation?

We better work to ensure someone like Bernie gets into office before someone like Trump. As I see it, it's only a matter of time before one or the other.

Anti-Intellectualism is killing America

This is a bit older. It came out shortly after the Dylan Roof church shooting. But it completely NAILS what I've thought for some time now. Perhaps it has already been shared here. If so, I apologize. But it's worth posting again to keep it fresh.

Conservatives/corporations work tirelessly to put down intellectuals, universities, and anything that might make people think for themselves rather than blindly following their corporate overlords. We need to shout this from the rooftops, share on Facebook, get this out there any way we can and not stop - share it again and again. Repetition!

After years of silence, I'm in.

Greetings all! When it comes to DU, I'd call myself a long-time listener, first- time caller.

I was a journalist for many years for various companies in Indiana. Then, a couple of years ago, my "employer" decided to downsize. I survived round 1 and 2 of the layoffs, but not 3. Since then, said company has had round 4 and a psuedo round 5, where the job titles within the newsroom were reorganized (with fewer of them available - of course) for which existing employees had to apply. It's pathetic what is happening to "real" journalism in this country. As I watch the agonizing transformation into all things "infotainment" (and I use the term "info" sparingly,) I am vowed to never return to that profession unless there is an overall transformation in our society. Meanwhile, I will work behind the scenes for truth.

I've been threatened with death by convicted murderers, been threatened with libel suits by malinformed knuckleheads who know nothing about law, been goaded into confrontations by people trying to get me into trouble - so basically nothing scares me anymore. Drop me a line. Let's talk. And let's get to work to drag this country out of the cesspool into which it's slowly falling.

I'm all in!
