Sept 5 (Reuters) - Texas sued the Biden administration in an effort to block a new rule that seeks to protect the privacy of women living in states that ban abortion who travel out of state for the procedure.
In a lawsuit filed on Wednesday in Lubbock, Texas, the state is asking a federal judge to strike down the rule, which prohibits healthcare providers and insurers from giving state law enforcement authorities information about reproductive healthcare that is legal where it was provided.
President Joe Biden, a Democrat, said in announcing the rule in April that no one should have their medical records "used against them, their doctor, or their loved one just because they sought or received lawful reproductive health care."
The measure came in response to efforts by authorities in some Republican-led states that ban abortion, including Texas, to restrict out-of-state travel for abortion. So far, no criminal prosecutions or civil judgments have resulted from those efforts.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — President Joe Biden on Friday plans to sign an executive order for federal grants that would prioritize projects with labor agreements, wage standards, and benefits such as access to child care and apprenticeship programs.
The Biden administration is trying to make the case that economic growth should flow out of better conditions for workers.
“A good job is a job with security and benefits, where workers have the right to join a union, advocate for better working conditions, come home safe and healthy, and retire with dignity,” said Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su.
Biden is going to a union training center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to announce the order as the administration has stressed the vital role that organized labor will likely play for Democrats in November’s election. In her matchup against Republican Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris is depending on backing from the AFL-CIO and other unions to help turn out voters in key states.

Raskin launches probe into closed DOJ investigation of Trump-Egypt ties

House Democrats have launched a probe into former President Trump’s alleged acceptance of $10 million from the Egyptian government during his 2016 presidential campaign, as well as whether allies quashed a subsequent investigation into the matter.
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), the top Democrat on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, sent a letter following reporting from The Washington Post that found the Egyptian government withdrew $10 million in funds shortly after Trump made a last-minute injection of the same amount of his funds to his campaign in the last few days of the 2016 election.
The Post reported that soon after the Justice Department began an investigation into whether Trump may have accepted the funds in violation of laws prohibiting foreign campaign contributions, the probe ground to a halt amid concerns from then-Attorney General William Barr.
Raskin wrote that the article “renewed suspicion that you collected a $10 million cash bribe from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This detailed news report has also triggered serious speculation that your handpicked political appointees at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), including Attorney General William Barr, subsequently blocked efforts by career prosecutors and agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to investigate the political and financial corruption that has been described.”

Following major data breaches targeting AT&T and Ticketmaster this year, another cyberattack in the news this week appears to have compromised the identities of billions of more people.
National Public Data, a background check company owned by Jerico Pictures, is believed to be a victim of a cyberattack executed by cybercriminal group USDoD, Bloomberg Law reported.
The personal data of 2.9 billion people was allegedly compromised in the attack. Personal data obtained by attackers includes full names, current and past addresses -- dating back decades -- and Social Security numbers, according to a new lawsuit filed in Florida Southern District Court.
While the specifics of the data breach remain unclear, the trove of data was put up for sale on the dark web for $3.5 million in April, the complaint reads.

Journey keyboardist asks judge to resolve deadlock with band's lead guitarist
The fight is keyboardist Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain vs band founder and lead guitarist Neal Schon.
It's about a company that they both co-own. The story is told mostly from Cain's point of view, and it looks like typical music business squabbling until the very last paragraph:

The two band members have been at odds for several years. In 2022, for example, Schon sent a cease-and-desist letter after Cain performed the 1981 hit "Don’t Stop Believin’” at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Then came 2011 - no more nice guy. In this TV series Kelsey Grammer plays Tom Kane, powerful, domineering, always in control, hands on all the levers, Mayor of Chicago.
I remember watching the series when it came out. That was 2011 - 2012
I hadn't thought about it in all these years. Then I saw the TV series "Boss" is available on the free TV site Tubi.tv. And it dawned on me. This is where Trump got the look. He stole it from Kelsey Grammer's character in "Boss".
