The newest target of faux-grassroots extremist group Sarasota, FL Moms for Liberty and for their fellow authoritarian extremists are public libraries. The Maga Moms enjoyed attacking school libraries so much that they found a way to make public libraries suffer their wrath. They targeted the Sarasota County Public Library System's membership in the American Library Association, the profession organization of United States libraries and librarians. And the county commissioners voted 4 to 1 to terminate the county libraries ALA membership.
Yes, that Sarasota, Florida--the Belly of the Beast, where traitor Flynn, Bridget Ziegler, founding mom4, and their magaty kind roam freely, and the Boys are Proud. The excuse for going after ALA membership by the County libraries--"Marxist infiltration," and possible "queering" of the libraries (the filthy way the Magats contort language for their purposes is grist for another discussion).
The real reason is almost certainly the way the ALA keeps track of "banned books," or any library materials that have been challenged by groups or individuals. For decades the ALA has compiled yearly lists of banned books. ALA makes it easy to keep track of the alarming increase in book banning in recent years, and the Moms aren't having that. They will not tolerate such rude, godless interference with their efforts to take control uber alles.

"Profiles in Ignorance: How America's politicians got dumb and dumber," by Andy Borowitz
If you're worried that things seem crazier now than anytime before, satirist Andy Borowitz agrees, and provides a record of the truly stupid, unbelievable dim-witted, completely ridiculous stuff American politicians have said and done since about the 1960s, when R. Reagan ushered in "moronic in America". This book is snicker-out-loud funny. And, as Borowitz writes "...if someday alien scientists are picking through the rubble of our fallen civilization and happen upon a tattered copy of this book, maybe it'll help them piece together what went wrong."
In the first stage, "Ridicule", dumb politicians had to pretend to be smart. In the second stage, Acceptance, dumb politicians felt free to seem dumb. We have the misfortune of living in the Third Stage of Ignorance--Celebration. After recounting the years of US political descent into mostly GOP idiocracy, Borowitz reminds us that to save our democracy we to get involved locally, and avoid "political hobbyism." Donating to campaigns is important, but to save our democracy in the "Age of Ignorance" we need to stay in the fight and do the hard work, like on the ground deep canvassing, and flooding the zone with votes.

The Praying Lady strikes again.
The woman who attends every Sarasota Co. FL school board meeting, and signs up to speak during public comments, "prayed" the audience right out of the room--yes, the audience was ejected during public comments after she spoke. Why?--because some people groaned audibly when Praying Lady (PL) prayed that the board member who is gay would "turn from his wicked ways."
And, unlike the Proud Moms for Bigotry gals who have been disruptive during public comments they disagree with, we, the liberal woke leftist heathen commies, peacefully vacated the room when asked. We then stood in the lobby and listened to the rest of the public speakers. We also plotted our next conspiracy to indoctrinate innocent school children and spread our Marxist ideology throughout--no, wait, that part didn't happen. Then we went back in and were nicey-nice for the rest of the meeting.
