I Shook A Hand That Has Shaken Obama's and Biden's

Be very jealous!

We were attending a college women's basketball tournament this weekend. At lunch yesterday, my husband spotted a bunch of people wearing fan shirts. He remarked to them about how well the team was playing. Engaged in a friendly conversation. A woman walked by and joined them. I knew I recognized her from somewhere. Certainly out of context situation.

She got up and came over to our table to chat about basketball.

And I asked her - "Are you Susan Rice?"

She said "Yes." and shook our hands. Asked our names.

And then went back to discussing basketball.

Coolest thing ever! Wish I had told her how much I respect her work.

A Positive Step Forward - Submitted a Query to an Agent

This is progress for me. I had written a middle grade novel a little while ago and put it aside.

It really needed serious editing, so I did! The difficult part about the editing process is that we writers all love our very clever words. Understanding that no matter how clever those words are, if they don't advance the narrative, then they need to be cut.

Finished the edit after cutting a good bit out, and ended up with a 45,000 word masterpiece.

Did some online research on Agentquery.com and found someone suitable.

So off it went.

Cross fingers for me.

And all you other DU writers - consider this a nudge from me to get back at it.

Canon EOS SLR Film Camera

Hello wonderful DU photographers. Does anyone know if there is any market/need for a Canon film camera any more?

I have mine and would love to find it a new home, but don't know where to search.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks.

Shingles vaccine

I have avoided getting the shingles vaccine because of the cost. $300 plus per shot.

Just got a notification from my insurance company that on January 1, it will be covered!!

Had an interesting conversation with my husband about FGM

After he read the report about the Pope's comments recently, he asked me what FGM (female genital mutilation) was. I explained it in detail and he was horrified! He tried to come up with a comparable male procedure and other than "cut it all off", he could not.

It's horrific at any time and in any place, but the fact that it continues here in the US is beyond comprehension. I do not know whether there is any solution.

If you have not yet discovered the novels by TJ Klune,

Then you must! He's an exceptional queer writer.

His first was The House In The Cerulean Sea. This new book is Under The Whispering Door.

Both are beautifully written. Delightful love stories with thought provoking messages.

Must Go See The New ELVIS Movie!!

Fabulous.

As Bohemian Rhapsody made you fall in love with Freddie again, this film will do that for Elvis.

Austin Butler does a phenomenal job. And Tom Hanks is wonderfully slimy as Col. Tom Parker.

It was a much needed break from politics this afternoon.

Today's Ruling Will Have an Impact on Medical Schools Too

Doctors of the future will not be taught how to perform an abortion. Many med schools already limit that training.

The effects of this will be wide ranging with unforeseen consequences all over the place.

Well, COVID may be in my house

We are putting our house on the market tomorrow.

Had photos taken yesterday.

Agent just told me that she tested positive this afternoon.

Will update as necessary.

Here's the reason Lindsey Graham voted out of alphabetical order today.

(Copied from Raw Story)

Less than one year after Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) voted to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the DC appeals court, he voted against her confirmation to the United States Supreme Court.

But it was how Graham voted against Jackson that is drawing attention.

The GOP senator did not even bother going to the Senate floor to vote against her nomination, CNN's John Harward reported, based on work by his colleagues Ali Zaslav and Ted Barrett.

"Lindsey Graham didn't wear a tie for the occasion of Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation to become the 1st black woman on the Supreme Court," Hardwood reported. "That meant he wasn't allowed on the Senate floor and voted 'no' from the cloakroom."

Geez. Such a great way to be disrespectful, Lindsey.
