radius777's JournalTrump is a white nationalist
thus Confederate history is 'good', unqualified white people in jobs is 'merit', qualified non-whites in jobs/military is 'DEI', J6 insurrectionists are 'patriots' while progressive protesters (Gaza, BLM, etc) are 'terrorists'.
That's what drives the Trump movement - white identity politics - more than anything else. Even though there are some deluded non-whites in the movement, the core of it is still white nationalism.
White women and men are by far what cost Dems
this election and almost any election.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-elections/exit-polls
White men: 60% voted for Trump
White women: 53% voted for Trump
White people overall: 57% voted for Trump
So of course it's the Palestinian student who 'cost us' the election.
It's just weird how some older white liberals get all worked up about this issue, it's almost as if they feel entitled to the votes of certain groups - yet don't speak much about the much larger group (ie white people) who vote Republican year after year.
It seems that rights only apply to some,
you have some who bent over backwards over the rights of Rittenhouse, for example, but then again he was a 'regular' (white) boy next door.
And as far as 'FAFO' - the majority of white women once again voted for Trump - who is busy taking away their reproductive rights - yet there is very little said about them.
A higher percentage of Jews also voted for Trump this time around. Then there are Jews like Bill Maher who didn't vote for Trump but routinely chastises Dems, which has a far greater effect on voting than some pro-Palestine protesters may have.
The ire of many white liberals (especially older) over the election outcome is often directed at non-whites and youth voters, whose votes they seem to feel entitled to.
Russia is hobbled, but they still have vast MIC
and manpower to commit to any undertaking. Europe has long felt that diplomacy (some would say appeasement) could work to contain Russia, and relying on the US/NATO for deterrence. That strategy has failed. Europe needs to be a military superpower on its own.
Europe needs a unified defense force and it's own MIC.
Europe has the money, technology and manpower to do this - something they should've done a long time ago - as the only thing Russia understands is force. NATO only 'worked' for so long due to America's commitment - without the US in the alliance the rest of the members can't take on Russia (or China) - that's the fundamental problem that Trump's threats to pull out of NATO expose.
Agree. As Alexander Vindman in his new book outlines,
the West (especially Europe) betrayed Ukraine and allowed themselves to be played by Putin, who has never accepted the independence of the former Soviet territory. The core of the problem here is that Russia lost the cold war - and losers should not dictate the terms - but that's exactly what was allowed to happen.
+1. Zelensky exposed them - which was not planned at all.
Zelensky refused to sign away Ukraine (and it's mineral resources) for nothing, and wanted security guaranties... that's what led Vance (and then Trump) to attack and show their pro-Putin sympathies in the open.
Both the alt-right/maga and alt-left like Tulsi love Putin.
In her mind Ukraine is better off part of Russia (who they view as the vanguard of anti-globalist populism) than part of the 'decadent and neoliberal' West that they hate.
It's the economy, stupid.
The federal gov't is the largest employer, and cutting of so many good jobs is going to harm the economy and gov't efficiency (ironically named Doge is about chaos, not efficiency) that is going to harm society overall.
Once the economy starts tanking - unemployment, inflation going up, housing and healthcare more expensive, the free world/NATO weakened - we could see a blue tsunami of the likes that happened from 2006 to 2008.
You forgot Mehdi Hassan, who was fired over telling the truth
about Gaza. There's a certain element (even on the left) that doesn't like outspoken PoC, which is a major problem to me as the Dem base is increasingly non-white and younger. Polls show clearly that most Dem voters view the Gaza situation much more like Mehdi does - thus he should be someone the network should want on the air.
