Biden Trashes Terrible Trump Policy Allowing Power Plants To Pollute
President Biden has reversed a Trump policy that weakened the rules and allowed power plants to pollute communities with wastewater.
The EPA announced:
EPA undertook a science-based review of the 2020 Steam Electric Reconsideration Rule under Executive Order (E.O.) 13990, finding that there are opportunities to strengthen certain wastewater pollution discharge limits. For example, treatment systems using membranes continue to rapidly advance as an effective option for treating a wide variety of industrial pollution, including from steam electric power plants. EPA expects this technology to continue advancing and the agency will evaluate its availability as part of the new rulemaking.
The reversal of the Trump executive order is a real-world example of why the impact that presidential elections have on the ground in local communities across the country.
A decision by the previous president was polluting drinking water. If he had won a second term, the pollution would have worsened, and Americans would have been undoubtedly sickened and potentially killed.
Clean drinking water should not be a problem for any American, and President Biden is taking concrete steps to reverse this shame upon our nation.

Bills final semester at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, was already difficult enough.
He was part of the final graduating class of survivors of the 2018 shooting, and they all had just marked the third anniversary of the day 17 people were killed, nine of whom were Bills classmates.

But Bill also had to deal with his fathers daily accusations that the shooting was a hoax and that the shooter, Bill, and all his classmates were paid pawns in a grand conspiracy orchestrated by some shadowy force.
Bill had worked hard to get over his survivors guilt after the shooting, but for the past five months, his own father has been triggering it all over again.
He'll say stuff like this straight to my face whenever he's drinking: You're a real piece of work to be able to sit here and act like nothing ever happened if it wasn't a hoax. Shame on you for being part of it and putting your family through it too, Bill said in an anonymous post on Reddit last week.

Gobsmacked.
I just returned from a consult with a general surgeon in the HealthFirst network in Florida.
I recently had surgeries and a hernia popped up, literally, in my belly. Since I have eye issues to address before this, I deemed it only a consult as I've been told it's elective.
Anyway, the surgeon was a talker. Towards the end of my appointment I asked and he informed me he is NOT vaccinated. Blames it on a number of things, 1) he's already had covid (only a minor headache ), 2) the powers that be did not handle the roll-out right, 3) it's become too politicized, and 4) no one knows what's going to happen with these unapproved vaccines. I did mention the 550K dead people vs. the millions who are now alive because of the vaccines, but he blew that off.
Well, when I get around to it, I think I'll blow him off and will be in the market for another surgeon. He's entitled to his opinion, but I don't agree with it.

There has always been a danger to giving Donald Trump a microphone and letting him ramble. If you do, the former president may claim that the sound from wind turbines cause cancer. Or he may suggest killing the coronavirus by injecting poisonous bleach into peoples bloodstream.
Last night in Arizona, Trump was given over an hour and a half to ramble. And, of course, he hit all of his white grievance talking points. But things got stranger when he began to fear monger about the Green New Deal.
Trump told the crowd:

I stopped to grab a water, and on the way in I saw a homeless man I know sitting in the shade with his bike beside him. He was red-faced and shaky looking. I asked if he was ok, and he told me that he was just resting. This guy's got the mind of a child, and I'm afraid he doesn't know he needs to stay extra hydrated when it's super hot outside.
There were a bunch of people in line in front of me and only one cashier, so I grabbed two waters and yelled to the cashier that I was taking one to the guy outside and I'd be right back (I'm a regular there).
When I came back in, the lady in front of me turned around, hands on hips, and told me that I was just enabling that 'homeless person' (said with a sneer) and that I shouldn't be wasting my money on him.
It's hot as hell in Florida right now. Mid nineties with humidity around 80%. It's a good day for heat stroke, and I told her so. I said I'd rather give him a water than call an ambulance.
I was gonna shrug it off. Let it go. Chalk it up to ignorance and the heat making everybody cranky.
And then she told me I should be ashamed of myself. That someone should call the police on him, and that it should be illegal to beg for money. That people who give the homeless money just encourage them to stay homeless and that should be illegal, too.
Ashamed. I should be ashamed for giving some poor old guy a water - it cost a whole dollar, BTW - and I should get in trouble for making sure he didn't stroke out in this heat.
I guess I look nice. Approachable. Like I wouldn't rip your head off. I am nice, most of the time.
But not always.
And I lost my temper.
I told her to call a cop and report me for buying shit at a convenience store.
I told her that I wasn't in the damn mood for crazy right now. That it's a hundred fucking degrees outside, and I'm hot and tired and sick to death of stupid people. That if she had an ounce of compassion in her whole body, she'd buy him a cold drink, too. That maybe she should figure out why she needs to accost complete strangers. And how's about after that, she back the fuck up outta my face and outta my business and turn back around and not say one more damn word to me.
I'm just about deaf in one ear. I try to modulate my voice. Unless I get angry.
It got pretty loud there at the end. There was dead silence in the store and then someone said loudly "For real!"
And the guy at the front of the line told the cashier to add a sandwich to his purchases for the guy outside.
The guy behind him bought an extra ice cream. The girl behind HIM got change for a twenty 'cause that guy could probably use some cash.'
Every single person in line got him something. Every one, except the now very embarrassed lady in front of me, who slunk out without saying another word.
When I got to the cashier, she didn't charge me for either of the waters, because she was going to take him one anyway. And mine was free because of the entertainment.
When I went outside, he was eating his ice cream and drinking his water with a pile of stuff all around him, a big old grin on his face. He didn't look shaky anymore.
And there, people, is the story of why I hate people. And why I love people. All in the same damned minute.
I sat in the car and drank my water and laughed with tears in my eyes, same as I'm doing now.

Megan King was pulling a double shift at her waitressing job last Sunday, and was halfway though it, when the customer was seated.
A quiet, elder woman.
As Megan told Newsweek, She came in about halfway through my 17-hour shift, and it was on Sunday, which is always pretty busy.
About halfway through her meal, it started to slow down so we chatted for a few minutes. Small talk, nothing too deep. She told me she was almost 70 and she just wanted to stop by an old favorite for a bite.
With her $3.00 tip on the $11.00 check, she left a little note.
Thank you very much for your kind service. This was my first time eating out alone since my husband passed. I was hoping I could get through it.
As she ate, King noticed that the woman seemed quiet, contemplative and calm. Megan assumed there might be something wrong with the food, but in hindsight, she wished she had been more alert to her charge.
I wish I had taken it quietly as an invitation.
I think thats what she wanted, looking back I guess she did, in a way. She needed an ear.
She was so filled with reflection and emotion, she started to cry and had to go the staff bathroom to pull it together.
As many in her generation, she took to twitter.
With two words.
Just a gentle reminder ..please be kind.
To those around you.
To yourself.

MSNBC Analyst Ticks Off Reasons Kavanaugh Is An Impeachable Sleaze
"[Kavanaugh] does not belong on the Supreme Court," says Elie Mystal. Also: Democrats, and Democrats alone can fix it.
By Aliza Worthington
Normally I am not into Democrat-on-Democrat grousing, but one of the things that differentiates and frankly, distinguishes us from the GOP is our ability to handle criticism and self-reflection, resulting in actively seeking paths towards ethical enlightenment and improvement. While in no way should we ever, EVER allow the fascist, misogynistic Republican party off the hook for Brett Kavanaugh's appointment to the highest court in the land, we can and should be actively trying to remove him now that we hold the tools to do so.
Consider this list of reasons, spouted off by Elie Mystal quite possibly the only human capable of pulling me out of vacation mode to write a post for work.
Whooooo, doggie.
Listen, It's not like these Dems don't already have enough to do right now, what with reuniting babies with their families, rolling out measures to reverse the avalanche of pandemic death unleashed by TFG's criminal and power-hungry neglect, fight to maintain voting rights being stripped from the very folks who've brought them their slim and potentially short-lived majorities to begin with, deal with economic crises, and restore our nation's standing in the world. But if we Democrats have shown anything it is that we can multitask. Mystal's drum has always been court-reform and justice, and if he wasn't beating that drum, he wouldn't be him.
Democracy has a lot of work to do after the reign of terror that was the previous administration, and the aftereffects it has unleashed in red states around the nation. Kavanaugh's appointment, though, was absolutely one of the most egregious, aggressively symbolic abuses by that disgusting orange-sprayed hair-plugged failed realtor, AND the party that hosted and feted him, having every bit the reach of any of the others.
Democrats, and Democrats alone can fix it.

Phil Valentine, who was unvaccinated, is urging fans to "GO GET VACCINATED," his family said.

A conservative radio host in Tennessee who expressed skepticism about Covid-19 vaccines and was unvaccinated is hospitalized in critical care with the disease, his station announced Friday.
Phil Valentine, who hosts a show bearing his name on WWTN-FM in Nashville, contracted the coronavirus a little more than a week ago and is battling pneumonia, his family said in a statement posted on Twitter.
He is in the hospital in the critical care unit breathing with assistance but is NOT on a ventilator, the family said. Phil would like for his listeners to know that while he has never been an anti-vaxer he regrets not being more vehemently Pro-Vaccine, and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on the air, which we all hope will be soon.
"Phil & his family would like for all of you to know that he loves yall and appreciates your concern, thoughts & prayers more than you will ever know. Please continue to pray for his recovery and PLEASE GO GET VACCINATED!

There may actually be some legal remedy, though, for the damage wrought by the network. COVID victims who were taken in by Carlsons vaccination misinformation, or their estates, may be able to sue Fox News under the ancient common law theory of fraud. They would have a reasonably good chance of success, too.

"The bicycle is the slow death of the planet."
I hope he did say this, but don't know. Sounds about right.
General Director of Euro Exim Bank Ltd. got economists thinking when he said:
Healthy people are neither needed nor useful for the economy. They don't buy medicine. They do not go to hospitals or doctors. Nothing is added to the country's GDP (gross domestic product).
On the contrary, every new McDonald's restaurant creates at least 30 jobs: 10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 dietary experts and nutritionists, and obviously, people who work at the restaurant itself."
Choose carefully: cyclist or McDonald's? It is worth considering.
P.S. Walking is even worse. Pedestrians don't even buy bicycles.
Thank you for this Megan Doreen 🙏❤️
