kpete's JournalJoy-Ann Reid shuts down apologist journalist attempting to appease Trump
Joy-Ann Reid, the only adult in the room that was never gullible about Trump, had the perfect response.
"But must he have some involvement?" Joy-Ann Reid asked sarcastically. "Because I think if Donald Trump is also impaired because I think one of the most frightening revelations were about the potential that Donald Trump is not in possession of his cognitive faculties. Because if there is a policy agenda going on, it's not clear that it's Donald Trump's. It is very clear Mitch McConnell said he would sign anything we put in front of him. The idea that people who have agendas, people like Steve Bannon by the way, who just saw Trump as a pure vehicle, it doesn't matter what Donald Trump does. They can lock him in his room with a cheeseburger in his bed all day, And they can do whatever they want. And that means that agendas that were not voted for by the majority of the American people, these are not people that are accountable to the American people, can literally do what they want."
There was an audible gasp from the entire panel over Joy-Ann Reid's cheeseburger comment as if that revelation wasn't a known. TEA Party and Right Wingers come on these shows and spew nonsense and never get that disrespectful reaction. The establishment journalists gasp at a progressive stating inconvenient truths to the boring establishment narrative.
It was refreshing watching Reid not allow a placating narrative. Progressives must do this at every opportunity.

Michael Wolff's new book "Fire & Fury: Inside the Trump White House" can't print copies fast enough
The publisher of Michael Wolff's new book "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" can't print copies fast enough.Henry Holt is facing a backlog of orders from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other booksellers. The publishing house is rushing to print more books, a person with direct knowledge of the matter told CNNMoney.
A Henry Holt spokeswoman said sales figures are not yet available for "Fire and Fury." But it has been No. 1 on Amazon's best sellers list since Wednesday, when the first excerpts from the book were published online.
The e-book edition is available anytime, of course -- it's the hardcover deliveries that are delayed. Amazon is warning customers of a "2 to 4 week" wait, although copies could ship sooner if the printing schedule allows it.
From coast to coast, bookstores have been reportedly selling out of the book, if they had any copies in the first place.

Tapper just abruptly cut off Steve Miller on CNN
Tapper just abruptly cut off Steve Miller on CNN #SOTU after calling him obsequious and saying he "wasted enough of our viewers' time." Miller kept avoiding questions, repeating himself and belittling CNN's coverage. Tapper said Miller had only one viewer he was concerned about.
Jake Tapper to Stephen Miller: I think Ive wasted enough of my viewers time.

Miller also called Bannons comments grotesque and defended President Donald Trumps claim that he is a genius. Which happens to be a true statement, Miller said.
Miller ducked Tappers other questions about Trumps recent tweets, Bannons influence on Trumps presidency and policy and a New York Times report in September 2017 that Miller in May helped compose a list of reasons to fire James Comey as director of the FBI.
I get it. Theres one viewer that you care about right now and youre being obsequious, youre being a factotum in order to please him, okay? Tapper finally interjected. And I think Ive wasted enough of my viewers time.

Trump Engineered Saudi Soft Coup, attack on Qatar, to Save Self
Trump Engineered Saudi Soft Coup, attack on Qatar, to Save Self
By Juan Cole | Jan. 7, 2018 |
Michael Wolff in his new book Fire and Fury makes a number of allegations about Trumps role in the Gulf crisis that, if true, help explain the mess in that part of the Middle East.
Wolff asserts that Trump and his then inner circleJared Kushner, Steve Bannon, Gary Cohn, Hope Hicks, etc.hoped the mid-May foreign policy jaunt would change the conversation in Washington, DC, about trumps having fired FBI director James Comey and about the investigation of special counsel Robert Mueller. So the first thing to say is that the whole trip and the announcements around it were for the purpose of hype.
............
Trump was convinced that his son-in-law and Middle East plenipotentiary, Jared Kushner, had gotten the Arab world on the side of the US and that his administration was on the cusp of a huge breakthrough in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
..........
Trump misunderstood what was being offered by the Saudis. They had made a vague commitment in the Obama era to buy some US military weaponry, to the tune of tens of billions of dollars. They recycled this pledge for Trump, specifying $110 bn. Most of it was not a new commitment. Trump, on whom the Wizard of Oz has nothing, hyped this old pledge into hundreds of billions in new investments in the US and was sure that the Saudis all by themselves could in this way jumpstart the US manufacturing sector. While Saudi Arabia is heavily invested in the US stock market and in US real estate, and while it helps keep Boeing, Lockheed Martin and a whole phalanx of Washington fixers in business, that they are interested in more US F-18s is not new news and was not a game changer in the way Trump understood it.
............
So to conclude: Trump did not get hundreds of billions in new investments in the US from Saudi Arabia. He did manage to put in an erratic and aggressive crown prince in Riyadh, helping destabilize the region in ways Iran will take advantage of. The other corner of Wolffs reporting on the May trip, that Trump thought it was a prelude to Peace in Our Time in Israel-Palestine, is too complex to take on here but that was also obviously a scam.

For those stunned by the impropriety of openly questioning a presidents mental health...
I am starting to think that there is something seriously wrong with President Obama's mental health. Why won't he stop the flights. Psycho!
