A Grove City man, already in prison for vehicular homicide, has been arrested on federal charges accusing him of assaulting law enforcement outside the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack.
Benjamin Michael Shuler, 28, was arrested Wednesday at a state prison in Lancaster and was taken for his first appearance in the U.S. District Courthouse in Columbus the same day.

Why was Shuler in prison when he was arrested?
When the FBI agent interviewed Shuler in prison in October 2022, Shuler initially denied going to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, until the agent showed Shuler photographs of himself there. Shuler then allegedly acknowledged he was there, court records state.
Shuler is serving at least five years in prison at the Southeastern Correctional Institution in Lancaster after pleading guilty in August 2021 to aggravated vehicular homicide. On Sept. 29, 2020, Shuler was driving his pickup truck when he crossed the center line on Route 104 in Jackson Township and hit another vehicle head-on, killing the other driver, 22-year-old Olivia Wright, of Circleville.
