21st Century Fox Anticipates Settlements in Roger Ailes Harassment Probe - double digits now

The number of women who have come forward in the investigation to say they were victims of Mr. Ailes reaches into the double-digits, people familiar with the matter said.

21st Century Fox is anticipating having to reach settlements with some of those accusers, the people said.

Still, more women have been coming forward. New York Magazine, for example, reported that in 2011, former Fox News employee Laurie Luhn received a settlement of $3.15 million after making a complaint of sexual harassment against Mr. Ailes. She told the Paul, Weiss investigators that she had been harassed by the executive for more than 20 years, according to the article. Mr. Ailes has denied the allegations. His lawyer Susan Estrich didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Republicans switching to Clinton

Check Out the Shocking (and Growing) List Of GOP-ers Who Are “With Her”

In June of this year, retired U.S. Army Colonel Peter Mansoor, a lifelong Republican, stunned the nation during an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN when he announced that he would be voting for Hillary Clinton. Why? Because, in his own words, “Donald Trump is not fit to be President.”

Among the defectors is Sally Bradshaw who until recently was a top adviser to former Presidential candidate Jeb Bush. This year, Bradshaw switched her voter registration from Republican to Unaffiliated. A GOP stalwart since working on George H.W. Bush’s campaign in 1988, Bradshaw told CNN,

Another prominent Republican who recently announced his support for Clinton is U.S. Representative Richard Hanna of New York. Hanna’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton comes in the wake of Trump’s recent comments about an American Muslim family, whose son, U.S. Army Captain Humayun Khan, was killed in action in Iraq in 2004. Hanna was “stunned by the callousness of his comments,” calling Trump a “national embarrassment.”

Trump’s fellow billionaire investor Warren Buffett has also become increasingly vocal in his criticism of Trump. In 1995, Buffett pointed out that anyone who invested in Trump’s Atlantic City hotels at the time was making a bad move – a prediction that came true. So much for the argument that Trump’s “business experience” makes him qualified to run the country. But what Buffett finds outrageous is Trump’s claims that he has made “sacrifices” through his “hard work” in real estate development.

Republicans think Trump might quit — so they’re scrambling to find a replacement: ABC News

Karl said the Republican Party could not force Trump out of the race now that he’s their nominee, but he might solve their problem by dropping out.

“He would have to go out voluntarily, then it would be the 168 members of the RNC, through a complicated process, that would pick a new candidate,” Karl said. “It would have to happen by early September.”

Florida’s Solution To Toxic Algae Blooms? Ease The Rules on Water Pollution

The Florida Environmental Regulation Commission has voted to ease the regulations on water safety standards for The Sunshine State, increasing the allowable limits on at least 20 toxic chemicals in our waters. Some of these chemicals are known carcinogens, and this vote came during the worst algae bloom in the state’s recent history. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins discusses this.

That’s what’s at stake in November. Do we really want republicans like those running the state of Florida that are willing to destroy our water even more so corporations don’t have to regulate themselves? Is that we want in Washington? Is this what we want to happen all over this country? That’s what’s at stake. That’s exactly what would happen with a Donald Trump presidency.

Donald just loves him some Putin

MSNBC unearths three-year-old interview with Trump in Moscow: ‘I do have a relationship’ with Putin

But MSNBC unearthed an interview from three years ago that suggests Trump not only knows Putin, but also was aware Putin was monitoring him in some fashion. The interview was conducted by MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts in Moscow, ahead of a Miss Universe pageant.

“I do have a relationship, and I can tell you that he’s very interested in what we’re doing here today,” Trump told Roberts, when asked about his relationship with Putin. “He’s probably very interested in what you and I are saying today and I’m sure he’s going to be seeing it in some form. But I do have a relationship with him and I think it’s very interesting to see what’s happened.”

“I mean look, he’s done a very brilliant job in terms of what he represents and what he’s representing,” Trump said. “If you look at what he’s done with Syria, if you look at so many of the different things, he has really eaten our president’s lunch, let’s not kid ourselves.”

Everybody likes Tim Kaine - cute dad tweets

Social media explodes with ‘dad jokes’ about Tim Kaine — and these are the best of them

Kaine gave a speech slamming Clinton’s GOP rival, Donald Trump, demonstrating his fluency in Spanish and talking up the qualities of his running mate. Also on display for the first time on a national stage was Kaine’s affable personality. This caused Twitter users to react by making Tim Kaine “dad jokes.”

@PJVogt

Tim Kaine is your friend's dad who catches you smoking weed at a sleepover and doesn't rat you out but talks to you about brain development

@HayesBrown

Tim Kaine surprised you by telling you that of course you're coming with his family on their trip to Disney World, you're family too

Now Trump is saying Putin used N-word and Putin doesn't respect Obama??

Trump has gone over the cliff---

What Did Trump Mean When He Said Putin Used the “N-Word” and Doesn’t Respect Obama

But perhaps even more bizarre was another portion of the event in which Trump made a puzzling reference to Vladimir Putin, Barack Obama, and “the N-word.” Here's the quote in question:

" Putin has said things over the last year that are really bad things. He mentioned the N-word one time. I was shocked to hear him mention the N-word. You know what the N-word is, right? He mentioned it. I was shocked. He has a total lack of respect for President Obama. No. 1, he doesn't like him and No. 2, he doesn't respect him."

Several journalists (including myself) initially took this to mean that Trump was suggesting that Putin had referred to the president using a racial slur. Indeed, the cryptic nature of Trump’s comments suggest that if he wasn’t outright saying this, then it least might have been a dog whistle to some of his more racist supporters. Basically, he may have been intentionally vague in order to be provocative, or to throw some red meat to the worst elements of his coalition.
