WHAT did Congressman Steve King just say on MSNBC?

What did he mean by the "subgroup" that has contributed more than any other to western civilization?

Is he a known white supremacist? He sure sounded like one.

Trump's habit of projecting. I hope in some debate in front of a national audience

Hillary will calmly explain that when the Don calls her a "liar" and "crooked," he is merely projecting those unwanted qualities of his onto her instead.

There are so many examples of his being a liar and crooked and a sham that the only problem would be figuring out which key examples to use.

Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.

The fun thing about the debates, if they ever happen,

is that Trump won't be able to rely on a teleprompter.

So his rambling, insanely narcissistic mode of thinking will be on full display.

Unless, of course, they outfit him with an earpiece . . . but I think his ego won't allow for that.

Baton Rouge shooter Gavin Long may have been in far-right sovereign citizen group.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/multiple-baton-rouge-police-officers-killed-shooting-attack-article-1.2714761

The gunman was identified by CBS as Gavin Eugene Long. Multiple reports linked Long to homegrown hate groups. The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, said he belonged to an antigovernment group called the New Freedom Group. MSNBC reported he belonged to a different group, called the Sovereign Citizens.

Authorities were investigating whether the shootout was an ambush carried out by Long, of Missourri, with the help of others, MSNBC said.

https://mic.com/articles/148961/gavin-eugene-long-named-as-suspect-in-killing-of-three-police-in-baton-rouge#.AsLjT2nzA

Little is known about Long or his motivations at this time, but Baton Rouge police have faced weeks of protests over the lethal shooting of black man Alton Sterling in early July. Sterling was shot multiple times while pinned by two police officers. Days later, another black man named Philando Castile was shot by Minnesota police. A peaceful Black Lives Matter demonstration over both shootings in Dallas was then struck by a gunman who opened fire on police, killing five officers and wounding nine others.

However, MSNBC's Pete Williams reported one person of interest in the current investigation may be a member of the sovereign citizen movement, a far-right movement alleging they are exempt from most U.S. laws. The Wall Street Journal, citing an anonymous source, reported Long may have been affiliated with an organization called the New Freedom Group.

GOP operatives are dreading the convention, poor babies.

How did they ever wind up in this pickle?

And meanwhile, some DUers worry that Dems aren't enthusiastic enough about Hillary.

http://www.politico.com/story/2016/07/republican-convention-trump-operatives-225393

“What’s there to celebrate?” asked Jay Zeidman, a Texas health care executive whose family has been a major benefactor of the Republican Party. “The party has hit rock bottom in terms of leadership.”

“I don’t want anything close to the appearance of supporting Trump,” said Jason Roe, a veteran party strategist. “This ship can sink without me as a passenger.”

For most, the convention’s lack of appeal boils down to one thing: Trump. The New York businessman has shunned the establishment class, reaching out to few of the operatives who worked for his primary rivals and making little effort to bring them on to his team. As a result, many of the Republican ad makers, pollsters, and fundraisers who populate Washington have little desire to witness his expected nomination.

That many of those same strategists remain convinced that Trump will imperil the GOP’s down-ballot prospects makes it tougher.

Poll: Advantage Clinton as conventions begin

Source: CNN

(CNN)As the Republican convention kicks off in Cleveland, the status of the race for the presidency continues to be advantage Hillary Clinton.

Little has changed in overall support for either candidate since the end of the primaries in mid-June, despite major moments in the campaign including Donald Trump's announcement of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, Clinton's endorsement by her main rival for the Democratic nomination, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, and the announcement by the FBI that Clinton would not face charges for her use of a personal email server while secretary of state.

But one candidate has made gains since last month: Libertarian Gary Johnson. In a four-way matchup between Clinton, Trump, Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, Clinton carries 42%, Trump 37%, Johnson 13% and Stein 5%. That represents almost no change for either Clinton or Trump, but a 4-point bump for Johnson.

Typically, support for third party candidates fades as the major party tickets are set heading into their conventions. But Johnson's support outpaces that of a typical third party candidate and may prove to have more staying power.

Clinton vs. Trump Leaves 6 in 10 Unhappy; Contest Tightens as Conventions Loom (POLL)

Source: ABC News

Most Americans express dismay at their choices in the 2016 presidential election, with a tighter contest between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump reflecting damage to Clinton from her email controversy – but with continued weak ratings for Trump across a range of key measures.

In apparent fallout from the email issue that returned to the fore last week, 72 percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll see Clinton as “too willing to bend the rules.” But 56 percent see Trump as biased against women and minorities, and six in 10 call him unqualified for office.

One result: On the eve of the Republican and Democratic conventions, a remarkable 58 percent describe themselves as dissatisfied with a choice between the presumptive nominees.

Preferences have narrowed from a 12-point Clinton advantage among registered voters in mid-June –- after a series of campaign missteps by Trump -– to a non-significant 4-point gap now. That follows FBI Director James Comey’s characterization of Clinton’s email practices as secretary of state as “extremely careless,” albeit not warranting criminal charges.

Poll: Clinton Keeps 5-Point Lead Over Trump Heading Into Conventions

Source: NBC News

On the eve of the GOP convention, Hillary Clinton maintains a five-point national lead over Donald Trump even after a period of negative news for the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Clinton leads the presumptive GOP nominee 46 percent to 41 percent in a poll that finds both candidates facing sizable disadvantages and challenges ahead of the party conventions which kick off Monday for the GOP in Cleveland and a week later for Democrats in Philadelphia.

Those numbers are unchanged from one month ago with the poll conducted after FBI Director James Comey strongly rebuked Clinton over her email practices even though he determined that she had not committed a crime. The poll was also conducted before Trump selected Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his vice-presidential running mate.

Clinton has the advantage among African Americans (84 to 7 percent), voters ages 18-29 (55 to 32 percent) and women (52 to 37 percent). The margin among Latinos will be released later on Sunday.

NEW LAWSUIT: Trump is "material witness" in $250 million TAX EVASION SCAM

And his kids are material witnesses, too.

The scheme took advantage of Delaware secrecy laws and allegedly involved a Delaware shell company.

The lawsuit was actually filed last August but on Thursday the Judge unsealed the documents.

Four Donald Trump-licensed real-estate developments are at the center of a huge income tax evasion scheme, according to allegations in a lawsuit unsealed Thursday afternoon by a judge in Manhattan.

The presumptive Republican nominee is not personally accused. He is described as a “material witness” in the evasion of taxes on as much as $250 million in income. According to the court papers, that includes $100 million in profits and $65 million in real-estate transfer taxes from a Manhattan high rise project bearing his familiar name.

However, his status may change, according to the lawyers who filed the lawsuit, Richard Lerner and Frederick M. Oberlander, citing Trump’s testimony about Felix Sater, a convicted stock swindler at the center of the alleged scheme.

Trump received tens of millions of dollars in fees and partnership interests in one of the four projects, the Trump Soho New York, a luxury high rise in lower Manhattan. His son Donald Junior and his daughter Ivanka also were paid in fees and partnership interests, the lawyers said, and are also material witnesses in the case.

As to Trump, every president starting with Richard Nixon and major party candidate since has made public some or all of their tax returns. He has not, even as Hillary Clinton has released her complete tax returns going back more than three decades.

http://rew-online.com/2016/07/14/judge-unseals-250m-tax-fraud-case-involving-trump-projects/

A Manhattan judge has just unsealed documents in a civil tax fraud case connected to Donald Trump’s real estate projects. The lawsuit points to an alleged conspiracy to launder $250 million of profit from projects such as Trump SoHo in New York City. It named Felix Sater, a former Trump senior adviser who has an earlier conviction for stock fraud, Sater’s firm Bayrock Group and law firms Kramer Levin, Roberts & Holland and Duval & Stachenfeld as defendants.

“This is an important case because it not only exposes how Bayrock, while developing Trump SoHo in New York, Trump International in Fort Lauderdale, and Trump Camelback in Phoenix in association with Mr. Trump, took advantage of Delaware secrecy to arrange to siphon most of the profits out of the country untaxed, it also exposes how major law firms were willing to facilitate it,” said Frederick Oberlander, one of the lawyers representing the State’s claim.

Trump is currently considered a material witness and has not been found culpable. However, state representatives said that new information “may significantly change that calculus.”

“Mr. Trump gave his consent to the transaction after receiving a full set of documentation which made clear that without it the deal would not go through. The extent of his involvement and any culpability will become clear in the course of the case. At this time, it seems that he benefited indirectly as a partner alongside Sater and Bayrock,” said attorney Richard E. Lerner.

Mr. Oberlander said of the suit: “This is an important case because it not only exposes how Bayrock, while developing Trump SoHo in New York, Trump International in Fort Lauderdale, and Trump Camelback in Phoenix in association with Mr. Trump, took advantage of Delaware secrecy to arrange to siphon most of the profits out of the country untaxed, it also exposes how major law firms were willing to facilitate it.”

Mr. Lerner said: “Mr. Trump gave his consent to the transaction after receiving a full set of documentation which made clear that without it the deal would not go through. The extent of his involvement and any culpability will become clear in the course of the case. At this time, it seems that he benefited indirectly as a partner alongside Sater and Bayrock.”

Mr. Lerner was referring to the fact that, in addition to promises of future fees, Bayrock had given Trump, his son Donald Jr., and his daughter Ivanka partnership interests in Trump SoHo then worth tens of millions of dollars to secure Trump’s participation, and those interests indirectly benefited economically because the scheme allowed Bayrock to keep on hand $20 million it otherwise would have had to pay out for taxes. That extra cash was then available to use to help the Trump projects if necessary, including Trump SoHo.

It is believed that Mr. Trump did not report his receipt of those Trump SoHo partnership interests on his tax returns, despite their multimillion dollar value, by taking advantage of the same legal “carried interest” tax loophole that he has himself publicly denounced.

How Hillary handled Trump's VP roll-out far better than Trump did.

One more proof that she's got this!

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/15/politics/donald-trump-vp-rollout-hillary-clinton/

In the crucial moments after Trump announced he had chosen Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate with a tweet on Friday, Clinton's campaign sprang into action, while Trump's team missed several opportunities to capitalize on its own news and be the first to frame the narrative around the new partnership.

Within 15 minutes of Trump's initial tweet, Clinton responded with a video outlining a point-by-point case against Pence.

A minute later, her campaign posted the same video, but with Spanish subtitles. By 11:15 am ET, the campaign was out with a one-page graphic showcasing Pence's views on hot-button issues such as abortion, taxes, immigration and gay rights.

SNIP

Despite it being their own announcement, Trump's team does not appear nearly as prepared. Using Trump's tweet as the starting gun, much of Clinton's content was made public before Trump sent out a single fundraising pitch or even put the news of the announcement prominently on his website.

Even two hours after the initial tweet, the only mention of Pence on Trump's website was a reference to his tweet, low on the page. Pence's personal website didn't mention the partnership at the time either, nor did it redirect to the presidential campaign. The Trump campaign did, how
