Narrowly avoiding a jail sentence for interrupting the judge during his Friday sentencing for voter fraud and forgery, the former state Republican Party chairman faces the next four years on probation with the requirement to serve 300 hours of community service.
A jury in December convicted Steve Curtis, 57, of the two crimes, one a felony and the other a misdemeanor. On Friday, Curtis appeared for his sentencing hearing, citing a litany of physical and mental health problems that made it impossible for him to remember filling out the ballot of his estranged wife in October 2016.

"Not once in this 13-page report did he take any accountability, not once," Costin said. "He blames everyone and everything for his problems. He makes homicidal statements toward the bench, the government, and he denies his role. He minimizes his actions and calls it a 'paperwork infraction.' .. He absolutely expects a slap on the wrist" here today.

"Do you trust Mitch McConnell?"
That seems to be the main question from reporters as they query senators following the deal to end the shutdown.
That the question needs to be asked is significant.

As for Mitch ---
Few people in American legislative history have been so worthy of disrespect and revulsion as Mitch McConnell.

The Greeley-Evans School District is preparing for the worst case scenario as a new oil and gas well is being built near a school in Weld County. Once complete, the well will be seen from the playground at Bella Romero Academy.
School officials are working on a plan to keep children safe in case any sort of accident happens at the site. Its the type of problem that school officials have already faced at another school. Last fall we had to evacuate the stadium during a football game because of a leak at a well near that site, said Theresa Myers from Greeley Evans School District 6.
The district will finalize its response plan by the start of school in the fall, complete with drills for students and staff. The well should be completed later in the Spring.

Note: Roughly 80% of these students are Hispanic and/or recent immigrants. Families are not among the wealthy. Several citizen groups have been working to oppose the wells, and a university law school is now helping with the fight.
