Dads last few years were punctuated with moments of blib and floop, we just got used to them and usually let them pass without issue. His last Christmas, now many years in the past, my sister and I were in the kitchen fixing cups of eggnog for everyone. Dad wandered through on his way to the living room and told us to be sure to put paprika on his eggnog. We just smiled and asked, Do you mean nutmeg? He stopped, turned around, and glared at us with You think I dont know the difference between paprika and nutmeg? I said paprika, thats what I meant! We said okay and carried the tray of cups to the family gathered in the living room. Dad glanced at his eggnog and noted the spice sprinkled on it, opining that he was pleased that we were finally able to do as we were told. Yes, it was nutmeg. Weve chuckled at that over the years.
Then, yesterday, this cartoon showed up on my Facebook page. I sent it to my sister, and both of us are now wondering if Gary Larson had been lurking in her kitchen all those years ago.
Silly car question
Is it possible that a bad fuse can cause a window motor to fail? Or do I need to ask Santa for a new motor?
Car is '02 Dodge Caravan

One hell of a conversation
now on MSNBC --
Why is this Happening? with Chris Hayes and Rachel Maddow with audience. Discussing history and fascism and current manipulations. Two hours long, repeats immediately. Well worth recording.
Mike Johnson is NOT a brown-noser.

Bye bye COLA
Its usually January before somebody makes a grab for my Social Security COLA, but the grab came early and bumped the landlord out of first place. This time its the car insurance; Im suddenly paying over $80/month on a car I drive far less than 50 miles a month (in 13 years Ive put less than 20k miles on it). The agent acknowledges that I have an excellent driving record, but the premium went up anyway because of inflation and besides, every company is raising rates. And after the first of the year the landlord will still get their increase. Once more Im left with less than I was getting before the COLA.
I have been gently reminded that my benefit is not the purpose of insurance, that the only purpose of insurance is to enrich the company's shareholders. Still feels scammy.
Gritch off
