Bernie Sanders in the 1970s urged nationalization of most major industries

(CNN)Bernie Sanders advocated for the nationalization of most major industries, including energy companies, factories, and banks, when he was a leading member of a self-described "radical political party" in the 1970s, a CNN KFile review of his record reveals.

Sanders' past views shed light on a formative period of his political career that could become relevant as he advances in the 2020 Democratic primary.
Many of the positions he held at the time are more extreme compared to the more tempered democratic socialism the Vermont senator espouses today and could provide fodder for moderate Democrats and Republicans looking to cast the Democratic presidential candidate and his beliefs as a fringe form of socialism that would be harmful to the country.
Aspects of Sanders' plans and time in the Liberty Union have been reported before, but the material taken together, including hundreds of newly digitalized newspapers and files from the Liberty Union Party archived at the University of Vermont, paint a fuller portrait of Sanders' views on state and public-controlled industry at the time.

Much more at the link.

Heís not someone I will support, but I do agree that some of the industries listed NEED a HELL of a lot more regulation at the very minimum, and it wouldnít be a bad thing for the people of the US if they were nationalized. This one makes me despise him a bit less, but I can also see how this release could be further weaponized against us from 45ís side.

Beto and Joe during 2018. photo favorites.

Hard to believe it was almost a year ago. Make no mistake, when Beto announces, there's going to be a whole new wave of positive energy flowing into the primaries. If you haven't had the great experience of listening to him in a room, or giving a rally.. Hold on to anything you have loose on yourselves, it's a great ride!

Would have LOVED to see a Rally that included Joe Kennedy III as well, but didn't hit my area together...

Which states do you think your favorite will pick up? Why?

I don't think I've seen this approach posted yet, and I'm of the opinion that it is the MOST important discussion to have. Popularity? We saw what that got Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Al Gore in 2000 (well that plus the court stolen Florida). I don't want a most popular loser again (I'm talking election, not candidates. Neither Hillary nor Al were losers as people, and I'd never insinuate such). I want a candidate that can make enough of that red turn blue to get OUR candidate to 270.

So, simply put, what red colored states will YOUR choice flip to blue? How and why? I'll give my own assessment separately.

I do love your optimism, and most definitely hope you're right. Nt.

Murphy Brown reboot- Taking aim at Trump!

Apologies if someone else has posted this one already.

LOVED watching her shred Dan Quayle back in the late 80ís early 90ís.

This promises to be HIGHLY entertaining, and extremely smart political commentary through comedy! Airing on CBS on the 27th! Canít wait!

The 459 People, Places and Things Donald Trump Has Insulted on Twitter: A Complete List

Apologies if this is a repost, but I hadn't seen it yet, and just had to share. It's almost mind numbing just how absolutely atrocious and disgusting this orange jackass is.

There's just too much to even begin an excerpt or blockquote from. Just scrolling down and randomly pick the crap that's spewed from this creatures twitter.

Practically a small encyclopedia of insults. WTF is wrong with people who continue to support?!?!

Exactly my thoughts. Escalation through Putin.

Iíve said in a few threads now that I fully believe that Trump and Putin will orchestrate a controlled escalation of conflict to ensure 45ís protection.

If 45 didnít continuously demonstrate all 14 of the traits of a fascist dictator, Iíd have second thoughts on this, but as it stands Iím fully expecting the manufacturing of a modern day Reichstag fire, and with the collusion, Iím expecting it to happen with Russia.

Anyone who actually believes that 45 cares, at all, about the lives of our troops is a fool, and hasnít really been paying attention.

A manufactured, controlled escalation of hostilities for 45 could:
*Take the heat off the scrutiny of his Russian connections.
*Be used to paint Democrats as weak on the military to energize their base come election time.
*Be used as a large enough diversion for him to blame the Mueller investigation for being a cause of the conflict and use it as an excuse to kill off the investigation without the tRumpublicon congress intervening.
*Come november he may even use the manufactured conflict to declare a state of emergency, and strong-arm tRumpublicon governors to suspend state elections to ďprotect the integrity of the US government in this time of warĒ or some such bullshit.

Ruby Red Texas District 7... wow.

So, I did my civic duty today. For me, this is nothing new, since 18 I make the time to research the ballot, and vote every cycle.

I vote in Texas disrict 7.. the district of the detestible John Culberson. This is a pretty darn red district, and Culberson has been reigning for a very long time.

In 2014, 2010, and 2006... every single time Iíve gone to the mid-term primaries, the Republican side is a line of people, and full voting booths. The Democratic Party side.. walk in, sign in, vote, and go.... This is the first time Iíve voted in a mid-term primary since I moved into this area where the Democratic Party side is bustling, and the Republican side, while still having people there, a good bit less than historically observed.

I realize this is way too small a sample to really be relied upon as any kind of real indicator, but damn it gives me hope, and made my heart happy today. Just had to share.

Time to deploy tRumpublican tactics in Arizona.

Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Less than 1 year away, Arizona will have their state primary.

Incumbent Republican Jeff Flake will be primaried, and hard.

Arizona uses a hybrid primary system where unaffiliated voters may vote in either primary, but voters registered with either party may only vote in that particular party's primary.

We really need to flood their polls with everyone we can and ensure Flake gets their primary win. Then, in the general, strive to get our Democratic Party candidate in (hopefully Mark Kelly will have decided to run by then).

If Flake wins the General, then we still at least have a republican that won't sheeply support the Rumpus agenda.
If our Dem wins, we gain what was a virtually unattainable seat.
If Flake Loses, and our Democratic Party candidate looses , and the rumpus backed candidate wins.. which could even be that prick Sheriff Arpaio we really lose.

If you live in Arizona, please consider changing your registration as unaffiliated if you aren't already.

Would love to see the seat go to a Democrat!
Can stomach another round of Flake. (yes that was intentional),
Dread the idea of a shithead like the rumpus pardoned criminal Arpaio being added to our Senate.

Anyone know of others that are being dropped from ACA plans?

In the last week two people that I know who had ACA exchange policies for a couple of years now have received letters that they aren't being dropped, but that no further claims will be honored due to lack of funding.

Both of them are residents of Louisiana.

My cousin Mike, who has been very limited due to a hip injury back in his 20's, has hypertension, type 2 diabetes, low kidney function (not dialysis level but close at 30% function), and is a prostate cancer survivor was dropped last week. Personally, he and I stopped speaking since the dumb shit was a Trump supporter, but his wife and I remain friends on Facebook, and she was asking for some help.

Likewise, one of my younger brothers best friends also joined the exchange a few years ago, and is likewise not "dropped" but has received a letter advising that future claims will not be honored. This poor young man has more medical issues than I can begin to name.

I don't know if the 2 of them were with the same company on the Louisiana exchange or not, but was wondering if anyone else is starting to hear of situations like this? Or if this is just some small fluke isolated to something going on in one or two insurance companies in Louisiana.
