YouTube banned several prominent far-right figures from its platform on Monday, including white nationalist leader Richard Spencer and right-wing internet personality Stefan Molyneux.
The bans also include two accounts associated with white nationalist group American Renaissance, former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard David Duke, and NPI/Radix, an organization founded by Spencer. The crackdown comes after YouTube pushed other white nationalists off its platform earlier this year.
The banned accounts repeatedly broke YouTube rules against alleging that certain groups are inherently worse than others, according to YouTube.
We have strict policies prohibiting hate speech on YouTube, and terminate any channel that repeatedly or egregiously violates those policies, a YouTube spokesperson said in a statement. After updating our guidelines to better address supremacist content, we saw a 5x spike in video removals and have terminated over 25,000 channels for violating our hate speech policies.

I'm just gonna tell y'all this is the phase the White House is in right now on this scandal:
A Florida sheriff adopted Scottish police training. Now his deputies use force less often.
He then adopted a different tactic, speaking gently to the same man as the video rolled again. "Absolutely, I care," he said. "Nothing more I care about right now than you, trust me." The man in the video, an avatar voiced by an actor, sobbed as he put the baby safely on the ground.
The two scenarios played out in a walk-in simulator in Volusia County, in east-central Florida, with video projected onto a curved wall, part of the training new recruits in the sheriff's department go through as they learn to defuse potentially violent confrontations.
"The greatest thing you can do is just talk to somebody," said Shephard, a supervisor in the county's child sex crimes unit who was demonstrating the virtual training exercise. "It teaches you that time is on your side. You know that you can slow things down."
Last year, when Shephard, then a patrolman, talked down an armed and suicidal man, he was given a departmental award not for bravery, but for his de-escalation technique.
Amid national protests against police violence following George Floyd's killing in Minneapolis and debates over the role of law enforcement in U.S. communities, the de-escalation training for deputies in Volusia County offers a potential model for changing policing.

Clyburn pledges not to recognize committee members who don't wear masks
Source: The Hill
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), the chairman of the select committee overseeing the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic, is vowing to no longer recognize members of the panel who do not cover their faces after Republicans refused to wear masks during a recent hearing.
In a letter sent to the committees ranking member, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), Clyburn emphasized that the Capitol physician issued new guidance requiring lawmakers to wear masks while participating in any House meetings "in a limited enclosed space, such as a committee hearing room." He said that Republicans' refusal to wear the facial coverings during a hearing on Friday "undermined the safety of everyone" in the vicinity.
"Going forward, as long as the Attending Physicians requirement to wear masks is in place, I will not recognize any Member of this Subcommittee to participate in person in any Subcommittee meeting or hearing unless the Member is wearing a mask and strictly adheres to the Attending Physicians guidance," he wrote.
The pledge from Clyburn comes as parts of the U.S. experience a resurgence in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations. The U.S. on Friday reported more than 40,000 COVID-19 cases in a single day for the first time in more than a month, with states such as Texas and Florida pausing reopening plans due to a consistent uptick in infections.

Supreme Court strikes down restrictive Louisiana abortion law
Source: NBC
WASHINGTON The Supreme Court ruled Monday that Louisiana's tough restriction on abortion violates the Constitution, a surprising victory for abortion rights advocates from an increasingly conservative court.
The ruling struck down a law passed by Louisiana's legislature in 2014 that required any doctor offering abortion services to have admitting privileges at a hospital within 30 miles. Its enforcement had been blocked by a protracted legal battle.
Two Louisiana doctors and a medical clinic sued to get the law overturned. They said it would leave only one doctor at a single clinic to provide services for nearly 10,000 women who seek abortions in the state each year.
The challengers said the requirement was identical to a Texas law the Supreme Court struck down in 2016. With the vote of then-Justice Anthony Kennedy, the court ruled that Texas imposed an obstacle on women seeking access to abortion services without providing any medical benefits.
