demmiblue's JournalFox News Staffers Erupt Over Network's Racism: Bosses 'Created a White Supremacist Cell'
Four days after Fox News aired a particularly tone-deaf graphic connecting the killings of Black menincluding George Floyd and Martin Luther King Jr.to stock market gains, many of the networks Black staffers took part in a phone call with company brass to confront Foxs increasingly racist and hostile rhetoric towards the protests against police brutality.
It did not go well.
The call on June 9 lasted more than 90 minutes and included Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott, President Jay Wallace, and HR chief Kevin Lord, people familiar with the matter told The Daily Beast. It was led by Scott, who is white, and Marsheila J. Hayes, the vice president of diversity and inclusion at Fox Corporation, who is Black.
It was almost immediately rife with tension. One staffer directly asked why Bret Baierthe anchor of the networks key weekday news broadcast, Special Report, which aired the offensive graphicwas not on the call, nor any other white on-air talent. (Baier had previously apologized for the major screw-up, noting that, because the show bears his name, the buck stops with me. Fox News also apologized for the insensitivity of the infographic, adding that it should have never aired on television without full context.)

Queen knights 100-year-old veteran Captain Tom Moore, who raised millions for NHS
London (CNN)Queen Elizabeth II knighted 100-year-old World War II veteran Captain Tom Moore, who became a national celebrity by raising millions for the UK's National Health Service (NHS), in an outdoor ceremony in Windsor Castle on Friday.
Moore raised almost £33 million ($40 million) by walking laps of his backyard, and received a knighthood after a special nomination from Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The ceremony marked the Queen's return to her public duties after the coronavirus pandemic forced her to cancel virtually all of her engagements.
She knighted Moore with her father's sword, and praised him for his fundraising efforts, saying: "Thank you so much, an amazing amount of money you raised," according to the PA Media news agency.

'We'll see him in court': Atlanta mayor questions Georgia gov's 'bizarre' lawsuit over mask mandate
WASHINGTON Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said Friday that she thinks its no coincidence that Georgias governor filed a lawsuit against her over her citys mask law a day after she said President Donald Trump violated it during his visit Wednesday.
This filing of a lawsuit is simply bizarre, quite frankly, Bottoms, a Democrat, said in an interview with NBCs Today show.
Bottoms noted that Savannah implemented a mask order on July 1 and Republican Gov. Brian Kemps hometown of Athens instituted one on July 8.
Then when Atlanta instituted a mask order and I did it via executive order he filed a lawsuit, she said. I don't think it happenstance that this lawsuit came the day after Donald Trump visited Atlanta and I pointed out that he was violating city law by not having on a mask at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Bottoms said that in addition to the lawsuit, Kemp also takes exception with some advisory business reopening recommendations that were made by the city and is suing us personally myself and the city council because of the advisory recommendations.

Trump health officials to recommend against retesting COVID-19 patients
Source: The Hill
Top Trump administration officials are preparing guidance that will recommend people who test positive for COVID-19 do not need to get retested to prove they no longer have the disease.
The move, previewed in a call with reporters by the administration's testing coordinator Brett Giroir, comes as the U.S. testing system faces severe strains and a national backlog of results.
The guidance will represent a major change in ensuring people with COVID-19 don't spread the disease.
Giroir said the change is meant to reduce unnecessary testing.

It follows a huge US Customs seizure of human hair products believed to have been taken from Muslim Uyghurs, more than a million of whom have been detained in vast indoctrination camps in Chinas western Xinjiang province.
US Customs and Border Protection assistant commissioner Brenda Smith said the production of the weaves and other hair products found onboard the ship constitutes a very serious human rights violation.
The news, together with the implication that hair is being forcibly removed from thousands of prisoners then sold, has horrified UK Jewish groups including the Board of Deputies, Rene Cassin and the Jewish Council for Racial Equality with some citing its chilling and obvious resonances with the Holocaust.
Alistair Carmichael MP, vice-chair (human rights) of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on China, said states around the world need to hold the Chinese Government to account for their brutal suppression of the Uyghurs, which is understood to be on an industrial scale, comprising 1,200 camps.
It is never a good idea to compare any contemporary incident to the Holocaust, said Carmichael. My fundamental rule is that nothing can be compared to the Holocaust. I know, however, that this report has many distressing echoes for those who know the history of that most dreadful episode.
Events in Srebrenica and Rwanda in recent decades should teach us that genocide can still happen and that no one is safe unless everyone guards against it.
