Hillary Clinton’s Mega-Donors Are Also Funding Jeb Bush

Racetrack owners, bankers, and chicken kings: Meet the ultra-rich bankrolling the Bush and Clinton dynasties. A special report by Vocativ and The Daily Beast.

For some wealthy donors, it doesn’t matter who takes the White House in 2016—as long as the president’s name is Clinton or Bush.

More than 60 ultra-rich Americans have contributed to both Jeb Bush’s and Hillary Clinton’s federal campaigns, according to an analysis of Federal Election Commission data by Vocativ and The Daily Beast. Seventeen of those contributors have gone one step further and opened their wallets to fund both Bush’s and Clinton’s 2016 ambitions.

After all, why support just Hillary Clinton or just Jeb Bush when you can hedge your bets and donate to both? This seems to be the thinking of a group of powerful men and women—racetrack owners, bankers, media barons, chicken magnates, hedge funders (and their spouses). Some of them have net worths that can eclipse the GDPs of small countries.

I know the "Bernie!" stickers seem more numerous, but I wanted one with the last name on it for the sake of 'name recognition'... Actually it's been quite a while since I wore one for anybody.


Bumper stickers for anyone running for 2016 seem non-existent in Michigan right now. I haven't seen any at all in a long time, other than for President Obama, probably "Obama-Biden" stickers from 2008...

I guess they're a lot less popular when you have to buy them yourself, rather than getting them as a giveaway, like in the old days...

Jeb Bush Supported Evangelical Anti-Gay Group With Taxpayer Money

While governor of Florida, Jeb Bush delivered a lucrative tax break to subsidize an evangelical group’s efforts to block Internet users from learning about homosexuality or accessing pornography. The taxpayer money was directed to a company owned by the American Family Association (AFA), a prominent grass-roots organization representing a social conservative base that could prove pivotal in the 2016 Republican presidential primaries.

$600,000 Tax Subsidy

It was May 2001, only a few years after a hot-button debate over congressional legislation aiming to censor the Internet of indecent content. Bush’s administration and Florida county officials agreed to award a $600,000 tax subsidy package to Bsafe Online, a subsidiary of the AFA. That company produced Web filter technology to prevent Internet users from seeing pornography or information about homosexual relationships or transgender identities.

“I welcome this high-tech, pro-family business to Florida,” Bush said in a news release. “As the Internet continues to influence our daily lives, parents have an increasingly difficult time monitoring what their children are exposed to on the computer. BsafeOnline.com is a great example of how the private sector can assist families to protect their children from aspects of the Internet which they deem negative.”

At the time, AFA was leading a boycott against the Walt Disney Co. for promoting the “gay agenda” and hosting “Gay Days” at its theme parks in Orlando, Florida. Liberal activists called on Bush to reverse his support for the AFA-backed company, BSafe, accusing the AFA of bigotry, recently released emails show. The organization was later labeled a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

In 2005, Bush faced criticism from the same AFA he helped subsidize -- the group would slam him for supporting an investment in a movie rental company that distributed pornography. And leaders of the religious right have lately questioned Bush’s commitment to their agenda. Since announcing he may run for president, Bush has sought to distance himself from some of his own past statements on homosexuality. In January, he disavowed an editorial he wrote in which he argued against creating “special legal protection” for “sodomy.” A Bush spokesperson told BuzzFeed the editorial “does not reflect Gov. Bush’s views now.”

Jeb Bush as FL Gov invested $1.3 million in state pension fund money in pornography, says report

Jeb Bush invested more than $1 million from the Florida state pension fund in pornography while he was governor, a new bombshell report alleges.

The former Florida governor, while in office, invested $1.3 million from the fund into Movie Gallery, a publicly traded video rental giant that offered a wide selection of pornographic films along with mainstream movies, the International Business Times reported.

Bush, who as governor was a trustee on the board overseeing the state’s $149 billion pension system, purchased more than 47,000 shares in the company in 2005, the Times reported, citing emails it obtained from Bush’s tenure in office.

The state later sold its Movie Gallery shares in 2006 after the stock didn’t perform as well as expected. Movie Gallery, which also owned all Hollywood Video franchises, closed up shop entirely in 2010 as the video and DVD rental business model faltered amid industry changes.

However, during the time the state owned the shares, social conservatives across Flordia and the nation were outraged — a problem that could resurface for the centrist Republican as he seeks the Republican 2016 presidential nomination in a field of candidates packed with outspoken social conservatives.

Texas Governor Greg Abott has placed the state on high alert: Barack Obama is invading the state on July 15th.

Officials in the state of Texas were alerted to Obama’s master plan to start a Civil War in America. While riling up racial tensions as seen in Baltimore, Maryland, and Ferguson, Missouri, out west Obama plans to take a more direct military approach.

Texas residents such as Chuck Norris are already organizing minutemen to prepare for an invasion, training locals in basic martial arts and self-defense.

Why is Texas so important for Obama’s plan to invade Western America and create a new kingdom of Liberal Darkness?

Texas has a Constitutional right to become five independent states from America without repercussion. Obama knows that if he can take over the state government of Texas, fix the ballots and make the state withdraw, he will suddenly have unfettered control of the world’s 10th most powerful economy.

This is why Obama is making pacts with Mexico and illegal immigrants. Those protected by Obama’s new amnesty plan are mercenaries from Mexico and South America. Obama is promising them that if they help him in his post-2016 efforts in America, then they will be treated as first class citizens.


Obama is code-naming his invasion of Texas as the Jade Helm 15, a code phrase named after a Egyptian false-god known as Thoth. On the 15th Jade Tablet erected above the entrance to his pyramid, Thoth had one of his high priests inscribe, ‘The day shall come, when my son shall also arise, and rebuild my kingdom, and my people shall again arise.’ Obama’s ties to Kenya and Egypt are well known, and there is sufficient evidence that proves Obama and his acolytes see him as a modern day god-king with supernatural ability.

Two Names The Press Omits From Email Coverage: Colin Powell And Jeb Bush

From Media Matters (a more balanced representation than some other links posted around here):

By omitting important information and context from the Hillary Clinton email story, are reporters and pundits guilty of trying to make the episode more interesting and more nefarious than it actually is?

As the press demands answers regarding which private emails Clinton handed over to the State Department and which ones she withheld because she deemed them to be personal in nature, many journalists fail to include relevant information about prominent Republicans who have engaged in similar use of private email accounts while in office, specifically former Secretary of State Colin Powell and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.

By omitting references to Powell and Bush and how they handled private emails while in office, the press robs news consumers of key information. It's also material that deflates the overheated suspicions of a wide-ranging Clinton cover-up.

Appearing on ABCs This Week on Sunday, Powell was asked how he responded to the State Department request last year that all former secretaries hand over emails from their time in office. Powell confirmed that he had used private email while secretary but that he didn't hand over any emails to the State Department because his private emails were all gone.

"I don't have any to turn over," he explained. "I did not keep a cache of them. I did not print them off. I do not have thousands of pages somewhere in my personal files." Powell's revelation is important because it puts into perspective the email protocol of a former secretary of state. By his own account, Powell's emails, unlike Clinton's, include his regular communications with foreign dignitaries. What was he emailing them in the lead-up to the war in Iraq? We'll never know.

To date however, both the New York Times and the Washington Post have largely downplayed references to the fact that Powell's private, secretary of state emails are all gone.

Why is Powell relevant to Clinton? Because after she took questions from the reporters yesterday about the email saga, the press focused in on the fact in reviewing her private emails, Clinton found roughly 60,000 messages. She handed over 30,000 to the State Department and determined the other 30,000 were personal in nature and disgarded them.

Let's ABOLISH the Selective Service!

It's past time to ABOLISH the Selective Service, and draft registration!

This is a money-wasting cold-war boondoggle that we don't need. Hell, I hear their damned radio ads every day on AM radio whilst spying on the rightwing talkingheads, "sign up for selective service, it's the law, we own your ass, but won't tell you how much money we are wasting on these radio advertisements every damn day".

(I voted "other" in the poll).

It's only likely use would be to draft a huge number of bodies to send to some foreign war, and we don't need to send those kinds of numbers anywhere, EVER. Having it available is just too tempting for some future imperialist despot to be able to speed up some future draft.

Even fighting on two different fields (Iraq and Afghanistan), the volunteer armed forces were able to handle them both.

If we were truly threatened on our home soil, the volunteer concept would be more than adequate-- even 9-11 caused a big spike in recruitment.

Besides that, there are so many guns held by civilians here, we ought to feel safe enough without it, shouldn't we? Anyone would be very foolish to try to invade us. It would be like walking into TEN Iraqs.

It's pointless, other than serving to enable some future, unnecessary military adventure. Who the hell are we going to invade that would require massive numbers of cannon fodder? North Korea? Iran? Ukraine?

Conservatives ought to support abolition-- after all, their idol Ronald Reagan promised to do so in 1980-- before he not only flip-flopped and kept it, but started prosecuting registration resisters... All their more libertarian types ought to support abolishing it. It's a money-waster, and anti-liberty.

This "tool" ought to be taken out of the hands of some future despot.
I don't really need to NAME NAMES, here, do I?!

Jeb Bush Evading Contribution Limits, Exploits "Non-candidate" status

'Ol Jeb seems to be killing off whatever is left of law-and-order regarding presidential campaign finance, by keeping himself in non-candidate "exploratory" status while they try to raise that hundred million dollars by the end of this month, a previously stated goal... even though everyone knows he's running, he is retaining "non-candidate" status for an extended period of time to evade limits on the amounts of individual contributions to his committee!

If he can do this and get away with it, then everyone else will have to do the same to remain competitive, and the laws become a joke (but that's kind of the Bush way, isn't it? "The laws are meant for other people, Standard operating procedure&quot

Jeb Bush Endorsed Airline Whose DC-9 Crashed with 5.5 Tons Of Cocaine Headed for U.S.

((This is a strange little story from 2006-2007 that was being dug into by a muckraking website based in Florida. I can't recall ever hearing about it in the mainstream press. There are even tie-ins to Iran-contra and 9/11. Some things were never fully explained in the first article, such as: How did Jeb Bush's Florida transportation department manage to put a drug-running airline company in charge of airport security?! I suppose it may have something to do with the fact that the plane was later found to have been owned by a major donor to-- President George W. Bush! It just seems to highlight the corruption of the Bushes... and Jeb in particular seems to have a talent for hooking up with crooks who later get busted...))

This is not the first time Jeb Bush has been involved endorsing a drug trafficking aviation company. Nor is it the first time SkyWay Aircraft has been the recipient of unexplained government favoritism.

Two months and eleven days after the firm’s American-registered DC9 was caught carrying 5.5 tons of cocaine in Campeche, Mexico destined for distribution in the U.S., the FAA is still stonewalling requests for the release of what are—by statue— public records of the registration and ownership of the plane.

In a twisted perversion of the U.S. Government’s so-called War on Drugs, the FAA is “Just Saying No” to the American people, who are not allowed to know if an American Drug Lord may have been responsible for the last doomed flight of “Cocaine One.”
