BTRTN: A Call to Action from Anita Hill
Anita Hill spoke at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing conference in Houston this very morning, on this historic day. And my daughter, a computer science professor, was there.

"Too often, members of groups that are underrepresented, marginalized, or silenced feel isolated, or they feel that their voices will not be heard if they speak, or that they will not be believed if they are heard, or that nothing will change even if they are believed. But we need these voices. We need to keep pushing back, even when change doesn't come right away. Judge Kavanaugh said during his opening remarks yesterday, you may defeat me in the final vote, but youll never get me to quit. Never." Lets turn those words back on him. We may be defeated in the final vote on Judge Kavanaughs confirmation, but we cannot ever quit.
The theme of this years Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing was We Are Here. We---the women at this conference---are here..."

BTRTN: Sorry, Trump's Approval Rating is Not Declining; But Kavanaugh's is Dropping Like a Stone
Trump is flat, flat, flat, Kavanaugh down, down, down
http://www.borntorunthenumbers.com/2018/09/sorry-trumps-approval-rating-is-not.html
"There was much fanfare two weeks ago when CNN announced a new poll it had just completed, which purported to show that Donald Trumps approval rating was, at long last, declining. The cable channel was breathless in its reporting of the findings, headlined by a 6-percentage point drop from 42% in an August CNN poll to the 36% reported on September 11.
The cable network attributed Trumps drop to the incredible string of recent disastrous headline-toppers, including the convictions of Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen, and the publicity surrounding The New York Times anonymous op-ed and excerpts from the soon-to-be-released Bob Woodward book, Fear.
The only problem is..."

Question: Can Flake Take Down Kavanaugh in Committee?
Does anyone know if the Senate Judiciary Committee has to recommend favorably for Kavanaugh for it to go to the full Senate, or not? That is, if Flake (who is a member of the Committee) votes against, as did all the Dems, would it stop there by virtue of an 11-10 "against" vote? Or could it still proceed to the full Senate despite such a committee vote? Thank you.

"There is little the Democrats can do to prevent this from happening. But that does not mean this path does not face obstacles that could derail it perhaps quickly. Lets take a look at the many ways the GOP dream could still unravel.
The Fumble
The first hurdle is to nominate a candidate without a blemish, one who can actually make it through the confirmation process. Finding nick-free nominees is surprisingly difficult, and modern GOP presidents are particularly bad at it..."

BTRTN Senate and House Mid-Term Snapshot: Split Decision Highly Likely with 46 Days To Go
Detailed analysis of the current state of play of the mid-terms, election by election:

"These have been an enormously consequential last 30 days in American politics, and not a good one for Donald Trump and the GOP. We have witnessed the Manafort and Cohen convictions, the Bob Woodward book and the anonymous New York Times op-ed, and now the uproar over the Brett Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court. Each has rocketed some horrific aspect of the Trump presidency the corruption, dysfunction, the assault on women to daily headline status. An already wretched electoral environment for the GOP in the mid-terms has unarguably gotten worse.
And yet, there has been little material change in the prospects for November outcomes. Since our last snapshot a month ago, the headline..."
