Maybe they can sell some of those coffee mugs.

"Today’s Thinkers and Activists Oppose Hillary Clinton"

The Case for Superdelegates Selecting Sanders
By Veena Trehan -
May 22, 2016

Today’s Thinkers and Activists Oppose Her

The great raft of intellectuals, writers and activists deeply devoted to social justice—largely permanent outsiders uninterested in an administration job—overwhelmingly favor Sanders. Sure, the revolving door types who architected and championed unfettered globalization, free trade and so on favor Clinton. But we now need people of integrity to guide us as we cast off our current predatory models.

What do these leaders say—those who shone a spotlight on corruption, warned us of systemic oppression and pointed us in a better direction? The vast majority support Sanders. All have concerns about a Hillary presidency including The New Jim Crow author Michelle Alexander; MacArthur genius award winner Ta-Nehisi Coates; The End of Poverty author Jeffrey Sachs; documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, Chi-Raq director Spike Lee; political dissident Noam Chomsky; actress and activist Rosario Dawson; former State Senator Nina Turner; inequality expert Les Leopold; Professor Cornel West; former NAACP President Ben Jealous; civil rights activist Harry Belafonte; Capital in the 21st Century author Tom Piketty; long-time whistleblower Sy Hersh; What’s the Matter with Kansas? author Tom Frank; and pioneering feminist Bell Hooks.

These people who often speak unpleasant truths to power offered us prescient warnings we should have heeded and wise counsel we should have followed. They still offer a strong vision for a just society—one free of racism, militarism, poverty (and sexism) at the heart of our most important movements.

One can choose to cast away a politician embraced by millennials and independents, with fiercely loyal Democratic supporters, who has been approved by great thinkers. One can discard an uncharacteristically bold senator who has been screwed by a rigged system and sophisticated techniques of manipulation. Yet such a tremendously harmful act would aggravate the risk of a Trump presidency.

The fate of America lies with those who have not yet voted, who remain politically active and with the superdelegates. Ultimately, it’s the last who could be decisive. They should endorse now to help the Democrats regain the presidency and their leadership role. They should listen to “political antenna,” follow the “ever-shifting center” of the party and electorate, and endorse a broad vision that appealing to the “mainstream.” Such a pragmatic choice would also advance higher human ideals of freedom, truth, peace, justice and opportunity.

THIS IS TRUMPS DOCTOR! IT REALLY IS!

If Bernie refuses to debate Trump, the Hillaryites will say he's afraid to debate Trump!

And that Hillary, unlike Bernie, is the tough, strong candidate who is ready and able to take on Trump in a debate anytime and anywhere.

And that Bernie is just plain chicken and can't take on Trump like the powerful Hillary Clinton.

And if Bernie agrees to accept Trump's challenge to a debate the Hillaryites will display fake outrage and claim that like Trump, Bernie is also a sexist who wants to keep Hillary out of debates!!!! It's for men only!

Those will be her campaign's talking points on the Trump/Bernie debate issue.

Cheap shots, but what do you expect from her?

Oh poor, poor Hillary. She just doesn't get any respect and voters don't trust her .... simply because she's a woman. That damn bigot Bernie and his rooming band of racist, sexist, hippie, communist thugs who are terrorizing Clinton supporters.

Of course, Hillary's surrogates and apologists hope the everyone forgets that it was Hillary who backed out of her commitment to debate Bernie in California.

New York Times: Emails Add to Hillary Clinton’s Central Problem: Voters Just Don’t Trust Her

Emails Add to Hillary Clinton’s Central Problem: Voters Just Don’t Trust Her
By AMY CHOZICK

For more than a year, Hillary Clinton has traveled the country talking to voters about her policy plans. She vowed to improve infrastructure in her first 100 days in office, promised to increase funding for Alzheimer’s research and proposed a $10 billion plan to combat drug and alcohol addiction.

But as the Democratic primary contest comes to a close, any hopes Mrs. Clinton had of running a high-minded, policy-focused campaign have collided with a more visceral problem.

Voters just don’t trust her.

The Clinton campaign had hoped to use the coming weeks to do everything they could to shed that image and convince voters that Mrs. Clinton can be trusted. Instead, they must contend with a damaging new report by the State Department’s inspector general that Mrs. Clinton had not sought or received approval to use a private email server while she was secretary of state.

It is not just that the inspector general found fault with her email practices. The report speaks directly to a wounding perception that Mrs. Clinton is not forthright or transparent.

After months of saying she used a private email for convenience, and that she was willing to cooperate fully with investigations into her handling of official business at the State Department, the report, delivered to Congress on Wednesday, undermined both claims.

Mrs. Clinton, through her lawyers, declined to be interviewed by the inspector general as part of the review. And when staff members raised concerns about the wisdom of her using a nongovernment email address, they were hushed by State Department officials, who instructed them “never to speak of the secretary’s personal email system again.”

May 26, Poll: Clinton, Sanders neck-and-neck in California.

CNN
Clinton, Sanders neck-and-neck in California
By David Wright, CNN
May 26, 2016

Washington (CNN) — A new California poll shows Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders locked in a dead heat, while likely Republican nominee Donald Trump trails both Democrats in general elections matchups in the blue state.

The Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) poll, released Thursday, finds Clinton ahead of Sanders 46%-44% among likely Democratic primary voters -- within the poll's margin of error.

Clinton and Sanders supporters, according to the poll, match up with other states: Clinton is favored by registered Democrats and older voters, while Sanders leads among independents and younger voters. More women back Clinton and more men back Sanders, but the gender divide is small.

The PPIC poll also reported that California voters are unhappy with their choices for president in 2016. Just 42% of likely voters said they are satisfied with their options, compared to 57% in May of 2012. Slightly more than half (53%) of Democrats say they are satisfied, but just over a third of Republicans (36%) and independents (35%) say the same.

Sanders Backs California Ballot Initiative to Rein in Drug Prices at Meeting with HIV/AIDS Advocates

Press Release

Sanders Backs California Ballot Initiative to Rein in Drug Prices at Meeting with HIV/AIDS Advocates
May 25, 2016

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday met with national HIV/AIDS advocates to discuss the epidemic and his support for a California ballot initiative to lower prices for taxpayer-supported AIDS treatments.

“Let me thank you for the work you do,” Sanders said at the conclusion of the meeting. “The issues you have raised are enormously important and effect millions of people in this country and more around the world.

“I look forward to continuing to work with you,” the senator added at the meeting hosted by Danny Glover, the activist and actor.

The ballot proposition Sanders supports – the California Drug Price Relief Act – is supported by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and National Nurses United, both headquartered in Oakland, California. The measure would prohibit the state from paying more for a prescription drug than the lowest price paid for the same drug by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. It would make sure that state taxpayers will no longer be ripped off by pharmaceutical companies that charge exorbitant prices for AIDS treatments and other prescription drugs. “We think it’s a great start and we applaud the people of California for standing up to the pharmaceutical industry,” Sanders said afterward.

Sanders’ proposal to provide Medicare-for-all universal health care would also benefit the 1.2 million Americans with HIV/AIDS.

At the meeting, Sanders noted that he has introduced a plan to lower costs for HIV/AIDS drugs. His measure would establish a prize fund to provide incentives for drug makers to develop new treatments. Unlike the current system that lets drug makers charge the highest prices in the world for medicine sold in the United States, medical breakthroughs made under the prize fund system would make the new drugs available to the public at affordable prices.

Sanders also agreed to set a national goal of ending the HIV epidemic in the U.S. by the year 2025 so that HIV is no longer a public health threat to any community in the U.S. and that people with HIV are able to live long, healthy lives.

Sanders also has called for expansion of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS program which provides HIV-related services. The senator also promised to push for stronger civil rights protections for people living with the disease.

Government Report on Hillary Clinton Email Scandal Much Worse Than Expected

Government Report on Clinton Email Scandal Much Worse Than Expected
Report could spell trouble for former secretary of state in final stretch of election as favorability ratings drop
by Nadia Prupis, staff writer
May 25, 2016

Hillary Clinton and her top aides failed to comply with U.S. State Department policies on records by using her personal email server and account, possibly jeopardizing official secrets, an internal watchdog concluded in a long-awaited report (pdf) on Wednesday.

Clinton also never sought permission from the department's legal staff to use the server, which was located at her New York residence, a request which—if filed—"would not" have been approved, the report by the agency's Office of the Inspector General (OIG) states.

"At a minimum, Secretary Clinton should have surrendered all emails dealing with Department business before leaving government service and, because she did not do so, she did not comply with the Department's policies that were implemented in accordance with the Federal Records Act," it continues.

The findings are the latest development in the email scandal that has persisted throughout Clinton's presidential campaign to little effect—but its conclusion was unexpectedly critical.

And it could spell trouble for the former secretary of state in the final stretch of the election, as public trust in Clinton continues to decline while polls show her rival Bernie Sanders has become the most formidable candidate against Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump.

Clinton campaign defends Hillary's refusal to cooperate with Inspector General e-mail investigation

POLITICO

Clinton spokesman says campaign prioritizing responses to FBI probe
By Nolan D. McCaskill
May 25, 2016

Hillary Clinton’s campaign on Wednesday defended her decision not to cooperate with a government watchdog's audit of her private email server, arguing that the Clinton team wanted to focus on responding to the separate and ongoing FBI probe of the matter.

“To our mind, it made sense to prioritize the review being conducted by the Justice Department and so, accordingly, Hillary Clinton has said since last August that she’ll be happy to sit with them at whatever point they approach her, which has not happened yet,” Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “And she has similarly encouraged all of her aides to cooperate in every way with that Justice Department review.”

Fallon said that Clinton didn’t hide from the inspector general investigation by refusing to cooperate, arguing that she has answered numerous questions regarding her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

Fallon suggested the campaign didn’t understand why the State Department inspector general would pursue an investigation on its own time while the same issue is being examined by the Justice Department.

He also said that there were questions raised about whether the inspector general — a nonpartisan position appointed by President Barack Obama — has an anti-Clinton bias, though he said there was no indication of any bias in the report that surfaced Wednesday.

The only reason why the State Department Inspector General criticized Hillary is because she is a woman and he is a sexist. Isn't the right .... or is that position total nonsense? Imagine 2015

The FBI investigation of Terry McAuliffe and his deep ties with Hillary Clinton's campaign.

What McAuliffe probe could mean for 2016
By Ryan Nobles, CNN
May 24, 2016

CNN) — The revelation that Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is facing a federal investigation related to campaign donations could complicate Hillary Clinton's effort to win the crucial swing state and its 13 electoral votes in November.

The ties between McAuliffe and the Clinton family run deep -- both personally and professionally.

McAuliffe often refers to former President Bill Clinton as his best friend. He served as Clinton's handpicked chair of the Democratic National Committee. Hillary Clinton was an early and enthusiastic supporter of McAuliffe's run for governor in 2013, holding several rallies and helping him raise money.

Despite their history, McAuliffe rejected any attempt Tuesday to connect his predicament to Hillary Clinton.

"I don't think this has anything to do with Hillary Clinton," McAuliffe said.

The Clinton campaign declined to comment on the McAuliffe investigation.

But the ties between the McAuliffe campaign of 2013 and the Clinton campaign of 2016 are extensive. Clinton's campaign manager Robby Mook ran McAuliffe's successful campaign for governor. The attorney representing McAuliffe in this matter, Mark Elias, is also an attorney for the Clinton campaign. There are also several staffers on many levels working for Clinton that played key roles in the governor's 2013 race.

"McAuliffe has raised and poured millions of dollars into the Democrat Party of Virginia in an effort to build the field structure that she's going to rely on," said RNC Virginia spokesman Garren Shipley. "I don't think it's a stretch to say that without Terry McAuliffe's money and organization, Hillary Clinton doesn't have much of a Virginia operation to speak of."
