The KS House implosion, legislator quits, another removed, and chaos, another tuesday

Source: Daily Kos

"I'm resigning from the House of Representatives effective midnight tonight," Rubin said. "I have no other comment."
With that statement, House Member John Rubin left the house, announcing he would pack up his office and get out of the state house never to return. The Topeka Capital Journal covered the exit, not just of John Rubin, but the re-assignment of committees and the complete upheaval of the state house today. The house had faced a serious crisis of confidence today, as conservative Republicans took over the bully pulpit, re-arranged committees and changed the way the house does business.

Hillary talks about Nancy Reagan's AIDS activism at funeral! What the F*CK?

That is what I am hearing, she said this at the funeral.

Ugh

And now she is tweeting an apology.

Personally I think she knew what she was saying and now she is pulling back because she was called out.

Coincidence? Woman runs for president, expected to sail to nomination.

And not once but twice is challenged, maybe successfully.

I dont know, something to think about.

Personally I would rather see Bernie Sanders as our next president, over Hillary Clinton.

But something I heard today on the tube about Hillary might be showing some frustration answering questions in debates and otherwise in regard to she assumed this would be her nomination, etc.

Both things can be true:

a. That Bernie and Barack are both great candidates and successful politicians and good people and not personally sexist

and

b. When Hillary announces a run, she can expect a man to oppose her and in a very aggressive and possibly successful way

So is it coincidence, or is there something more here?

Just thinking out loud.

Hillary is accused of voter fraud on Democratic Underground and the

majority of you here have no problem with that.

Yes, after confirming with the OP that the intent of the thread was to accuse the Clinton campaign of voter fraud, I alerted on it.

Guilty as charged.

The results of the alert are amazing to me.

Makes me think maybe that poll that 33% of Bernie supporters wont vote for Hillary is true.

Nothing more selfish and scary than that.

I see now that the message is deleted? Not sure how that works.

What is disgusting is the majority of jurors see no problem accusing a Democrat of voter fraud.

Just so there is NO confusion, the allegation was made then doubled down on, before I alerted.

My cosmetologist says Bernie can win, and here is why...

My twenty something, liberal woman hairdresser has a twenty something, liberal sister who lives in of all places, Montana.

She works in, of all places, a mine.

Yes, a mine.

She is surrounded by hundreds of white men, almost all of which are GOP, as you can imagine.

Guess who the vast majority of them admit to her they could vote for.

Anecdotal, but of value, because if you know these people, you know this could translate elsewhere.

The political immaturity of remarks like "Hillary is a Republican"

worries me because I believe due to naivete and immaturity, many will have the attitude of "I will take my ball and go home if I dont get my way".

Some Hillary supporters may decide to do this, but many more Bernie supporters seem to be willing to do this already.

Not only do we need all of us but we need more than us, we need folks out there who arent excited about it, to get excited.

Cant do that if Hillary is the nominee, you say?

Bullshit, you can do that if you stop attacking her, you can actually build an excitement for her for several reasons.

Here is my promise, I will vote for whoever it is I want in the primary, but then I will pivot like a ballet dancer doing "The Nutcracker" if my choice loses.

Now get excited, stay excited, and beat those god damn rightwingers!

p.s. for the record, I am a supporter of Bernie Sanders.

Listening to Laura Ingraham or a clip of her attacking Hillary

and supporting Bernie, pretty much.

Calling her a "damsel in distress"

A bunch of real ugly shit, and says she sees why women prefer Bernie or something.

Seems like a clear attempt to influence voting in the democratic party.

VICE on HBO "Fighting ISIS" (This is a must see)

http://www.vice.com/read/watch-the-trailer-for-our-hbo-special-report-fighting-isis

The take away from this is two fold:

1. We cant win, it is a lose lose no matter what we do, including if we do nothing.

2. Of course the blame goes to W and Cheney for this absolute nightmare, but in 2010 the Obama administration decision to stick with Maliki was problematic, to say the least.

Single payer, never ever or not never ever?

One candidate says one thing, another says something else.

Guess what, it isnt up to either of them, it is up to YOU/US.

Work to get down ticket Democrats elected anywhere and everywhere you can then demand it.

What Happened to Jane Mayer When She Wrote About the Koch Brothers.

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/27/nyregion/what-happened-to-jane-mayer-when-she-wrote-about-the-koch-brothers.html

Out of the blue in the fall of 2010, a blogger asked Jane Mayer, a writer with The New Yorker, how she felt about the private investigator who was digging into her background. Ms. Mayer thought the idea was a joke, she said this week. At a Christmas party a few months later, she ran into a former reporter who had been asked about helping with an investigation into another reporter on behalf of two conservative billionaires.

“The reporter had written a story they disliked,” Ms. Mayer recounts in “Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right,” out this month from Doubleday. Her acquaintance told her, “‘It occurred to me afterward that the reporter they wanted to investigate might be you.’”

It would be great if everybody read this book.
