It started with Kamala Harris

being named Joe Biden's running mate, then on to the election. The apparently successful vaccines moved the needle further on the dial, and I'm officially out of my funk. Proof? I've taken a shower two days in a row (just after discovering that if I apply anti-perspirant freely on parts of my body that I never have before allows me to go ten days without a shower).

Donald Trump: Disgruntled Ex-Employee

Oh Irony, where is thy sting? Why, there it is, right over there.

Frivolous lawsuits?

At some point, with all these pretty much identical lawsuits being thrown out of court, most of them as far as I can tell, after the judge's first question about the basis of the suit, isn't the Trump campaign liable for some kind of punishment for tying up the legal system with a bunch of silly, unwinnable litigation? In addition to their having to pay costs, I mean.

Please stop referring to Trump's behavior as "scorched earth"

and call it what it is: spiteful and childish. He wouldn't recognize a military strategy (like scorched earth) if it bit him in the ass.

He is a nasty little man.

Sherrod Brown to Ted Cruz *what I wish had transpired*

"You don't want to wear a mask because you're an evil man who wants Americans to get sick and die."

If he can ascribe motives to what we say, we can ascribe motives to what he says.

On edit: Sherrod Brown didn't say that; that's what I think he ought to have said.

A different reality

I stopped trying to talk to the Trumpers in our family and our neighborhood a long time ago, and I had hoped that the election of Joe Biden would restore our ability to talk to each other, but they still exist in that alternate reality, where up is down and evil is good.

They complain that the election was stolen. Have they already forgotten about all the blatant attempts to pretty much shut down the post office when it became clear that many people would be voting by mail? Have they already forgotten about all the polling places that *poof* disappeared overnight from those dreaded "urban" areas? Can you imagine how much greater Joe Biden's margin of victory would have been had people--democrats especially--been allowed to exercise the right to vote, without hindrance?

Have they already forgotten about all the lies about the dangers of voting by mail--hell, the general unreliability of our system of elections--spouted every day for months and months from the biggest soapbox in the world--the President of the United States' podium?

The farthest right of them worry about a worldwide conspiracy to enslave children as sexual objects, that Hillary Clinton wants to kidnap your toddler for the most nefarious of purposes, yet a notorious sex trafficer of children and his right-hand woman were (and are) friends of Donald Trump? That there are a multitude of photographs showing the three of them cavorting together among under-age girls?

And why haven't they at least raised an eyebrow over the 500+ children who will probably never be reunited with their families? We know Trump associates with abusers of under-age children--who better to abuse than children whose parents are safely out of the country and forbidden to return?

Some day, I hope I can have a civil conversation with cousin Claire, but I'm not holding my breath.

Trump can't bring himself to concede

because he believes he will be treated just as he would have treated Biden had Biden lost.

It is inconceivable to this enormous spoiled baby that anyone would behave in a civilized, courteous way to him after his concession. I expect he is losing sleep over worry about what names Biden would call him on Twitter.

It's part of a child's psychological makeup to be unable to imagine any other reaction than what his own would be.

What a loser.

A Farewell Tour?

Remember Trump's unending rallies *after* the election of 2016? His "victory lap?" What if he is convinced that one way to make his (loss) palatable is to stage "Farewell Until 2024" rallies? He would get the crowds and cheering, the opportunity to spread more lies and poison (and covid), and the big cheers will reassure him that he's loved.

I worry about this happening. I don't think he enjoyed any part of being president as much as he enjoyed the cheers of his crowds.
I'm concerned that the MAGATS will stay riled up and will create problems between now and the foreseeable future.

Trump consulted Fauci when he was sick

per Washington Post reporter on Anderson Cooper. Says Trump called Fauci from Walter Reed to "talk about his condition."
