Trump makes false statement about U.S. murder rate to sheriffs group

President Trump met Tuesday morning with a group of sheriffs from the National Sheriffs Association, a group that consists of more than 3,000 sheriffs from around the country. And to this sworn group of law enforcement veterans, with reporters taking notes, he again repeated a falsehood about the murder rate in America.

Trump told the sheriffs, “the murder rate in our country is the highest it’s been in 47 years.” He blamed the news media for not publicizing this development, then added, “But the murder rate is the highest it’s been in, I guess, 45 to 47 years.”

The country’s murder rate is not the highest it’s been in 47 years. It is almost at its lowest point, actually, according to the FBI, which gathers statistics every year from police departments around the country.

There is nothing normal about this.

This evil bastard hopes if he just keeps lying long enough and often enough, people will become numb and stop calling him on it.

NPR Morning Guest Repeats Myth that Clintons Trashed White House, Not Challenged

"David Greene talks to Tom Nichols, an author and professor at the Naval War College, who says the public and the media need to take a step back and a long breath when thinking about President Trump."

This jerk actually said that when the Clintons left the White House, they trashed it and removed all the W's from the typewriters.

Not a peep from David Greene objecting to these "alternative facts".

Watching the Super Bowl gave me Hope

This country we live in really isn't about the haters.

We are much better than that.

Trump and his foul retinue may raise hell and spread misery, but they will never corrupt the heart of the vast majority of America.

Has Anyone Seen a Dedicated Anti Trump Website Yet?

With the blitzkrieg of executive orders, nominations from hell, twiiter tantrums, etc., I feel it would be very helpful to have a site that would document all the malfeasance, list it in chronological order and also do a sort of triage, breaking everything down so that different activist groups could use it as a reference and a danger alert warning system.

For example, the front page could give a general daily overview of the Trump activities of the day.

And there would be a dedicated group for every member of the Trump administration and major appointees, a clearing house of information.

I believe a large part of the reason for the flood of executive orders, tweets, etc. Is to overwhelm and throw opposition off balance psychologically. I am finding it impossible to stay abreast, the more I look, the more garbage I find.

A single dedicated source would greatly assist in organizing resistance.

Any thoughts or ideas?

Trump to order regulatory rollback Friday for finance industry, Wall Street, top aide says

President Trump plans to order a rollback Friday of regulations governing the financial services industry and Wall Street under the Dodd-Frank law and beyond.

Gary Cohn, White House Economic Council director, told the Wall Street Journal the administration would also move against a regulation designed to force retirement advisers to work in the best interest of their clients, the “fiduciary rule,” set to take effect in April and designed to eliminate conflicts-of-interests among professionals dealing with those enrolled in qualified retirement plans and IRAs.

In an interview with the Journal, Cohn, a former president of Goldman Sachs, said the order was a “table setter for a bunch of stuff that is coming.”

Exclusive: Trump to focus counter-extremism program solely on Islam - sources

"By Julia Edwards Ainsley, Dustin Volz and Kristina Cooke | WASHINGTON/SAN FRANCISCO
The Trump administration wants to revamp and rename a U.S. government program designed to counter all violent ideologies so that it focuses solely on Islamist extremism, five people briefed on the matter told Reuters.

The program, "Countering Violent Extremism," or CVE, would be changed to "Countering Islamic Extremism" or "Countering Radical Islamic Extremism," the sources said, and would no longer target groups such as white supremacists who have also carried out bombings and shootings in the United States.

Such a change would reflect Trump's election campaign rhetoric and criticism of former President Barack Obama for being weak in the fight against Islamic State and for refusing to use the phrase "radical Islam" in describing it. Islamic State has claimed responsibility for attacks on civilians in several countries.....

In a meeting last Thursday attended by senior staff for DHS Secretary John Kelly, government employees were asked to defend why they chose certain community organizations as recipients of CVE program grants, said the source, who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions."

Trump Tweets Threat to Cut Federal Funds to Berkely for Breitbart Protest

Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump
If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view - NO FEDERAL FUNDS?

Updated at 6:40 a.m. ET

A planned appearance by far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos was canceled Wednesday at the University of California, Berkeley, after a group of protesters shot fireworks at police, broke windows, started fires and threw barricades.

It's far from the first time a Yiannopoulos speaking event was canceled because of protests, which occur regularly at his events.

In a statement, the university said: "The violence was instigated by a group of about 150 masked agitators who came onto campus and interrupted an otherwise non-violent protest."

It said that at the time more than 1,500 protesters were gathered outside the event.

"This was a group of agitators who were masked up, throwing rocks, commercial grade fireworks and Molotov cocktails at officers," UC Berkeley Police Chief Margo Bennet told The Associated Press. Police put the campus on lock down for several hours. There were no reports of arrests or serious injuries, according to the AP.

On Twitter Thursday morning, President Trump questioned future federal funding for the school, saying it "does not allow free speech."

Anyone still think Trump is not a threat to free speech?

The article states that the black bloc violent actors were NOT students and arrived seperate from the peaceful protestors.

One. Single. Unifying. Objective.
