Why has nobody ever pointed out that TFG never sued Ms. Carrol for defamation?

He's the guy that promised stronger libel laws (my favorite irony re: this case). Remember he was going to sue all the liars who said bad things about him. Why didn't he sue her? We all know why, but why didn't anyone ever even ask the question? Why didn't anyone ask TFG? The fact that he didn't sue her speaks of his unwillingness to testify about it and is itself strong evidence of his guilt.

A mistake I made improved the movie experience of watching 'The Silent Twins" on Prime.

"The Silent Twins" is the title of both the book and the movie about twins June and Jennifer Gibbons. The two communicated, for the most part, only with each other. They developed what seemed to be their own language, later found to be their own unique dialect of English. Their story was told first in a book by Marjorie Wallace, who gained the twins' confidence through their mutual love of writing. The girls wrote fantasies and poetry, with creative passages and brilliant metaphors. And yet they were forever voluntarily separated from the world. Some of these writings are excerpted in the movie, with animation along side the words. It's a fascinating book and an excellent movie. Both examine from the outside a world lived entirely inside the shared mind of a set of twins.

My mistake, which I thought was just a brilliant conceit added by the director, resulted in watching a final act that was both sad and uplifting at the same time with an emotionless narrator introduced, describing in real time the events unfolding. A woman's nearly monotone voice tells what is happening as you watch, told in the third person in the present tense. As emotionless as a speaking alarm clock. When Jennifer cries the voice says "Jennifer Cries", almost coldly. The flat narration style fights the emotions bursting through what becomes a moment of personal liberation. Brilliant move by director Agnieszka Smoczynska? No. I inadvertently turned on "English Narration" at just the right moment.

Weirdly, I recommend watching the movie this way. When the girls are told they are leaving their last institution for a better life, turn on English narration right there. Somehow, it makes the whole experience richer.

Found this interesting: "Products related to 'Letters to Trump" (The book)

There were two biographies of TFG. Both appeared bland and superficial.

There were two books that dealt with the end times. Mostly, preparing for the end times. One was about the 'Rapture' itself.

One was a guide on how to rescue a family member from a cult.

And one that claims that Donald J. Trump is the messiah.

I don't know what to make of the algorithms that brought on these suggestions.

I have mainly purchased historical biographies, history, and horror (at least half is classic horror and there's a lot of Stephen King).

I think my reading habits added little to the mix.

BTW, half the ratings were 5/5 and half were 1/5 (some adding 'wish I could vote zero')

? for legal people, Re: Prez election: Can the Prez & VP be elected if from the same state?

Would a Trump/Desantis ticket be unconstitutional? I suggested that nightmare ticket on a previous post and got a few answers citing the above. Anyone know the truth here?

Is a Trump/Desantis ticket possible? I see a nightmare scenario that elects them.

Selling the ticket on the very fact they reconciled. But under what conditions would Desantis accept to taking the VEEP spot?

Perhaps a Dick Cheney style of Vice Presidency. It could even be an open secret that Desantis will be wielding such power in a Trump Presidency. As long as Trump has the Title, and Desantis does all the work, both, I think, would be just fine with the whole thing.

I'm sorry, but I see this ticket as a possibility. Trump and Desantis have two years to figure this out. There's a very good chance that DJT will be their candidate, and his chances improve every time another Repub enters the race. And there's little Desantis can do to stop that. But accepting a Dick Cheney style Vice Presidency gives him the top spot by default come 2028.

The timing could help them, too, creating an inertia that puts them over the top by 2024. I haven't seen any polls regarding a full ticket match-up, but I have all ready seen "Trump-Desantis-2024" flags in my home town and on FaceBook posts. I do think this is the only ticket that would have a chance to win in 2024. But I do see the possibility.

Scary thought.

We need to convince republicans that 16 Ronald Reagans were shot in the latest mass shooting

It seems only after he was shot (One R.R. must be worth hundreds of school children)did they get on board for gun control.

The 2nd amendment plus our insane defense budget is a combination that is unique to America

I know this is absurdly simplistic, and I've no evidence to support it except intuition, but I believe that, without the both of these, we wouldn't have the gun problem we have. I don't think we appreciate what being born into a country that possesses half of the world's arms and sells a good deal to the rest of the world does to our psyche. And while we debate social programs as much out of existence as one side of our government can, both sides always want to increase our military budget. As much as any government may bend to the will of the people, the people will always be somewhat formed in a deep and mostly imperceptible way by the policies and actions of the government they are born into. And we have all been born into a country whose government seems to value guns over children, over health and well-being, over education. Guns over people.

And then we put a gun, figuratively per our constitution and literally per capita, into every hand in America.

We are given a weapon of war as a birthright in a country that too often uses weapons of war to fix things. And we do so like no other country on earth.

America is a gun.

Con-Phillips says there's 600 mil. barrels of oil in Willow. The US uses 20 mil. a day.

600 divided by 20. Thirty days worth.

Am I not seeing something here?

Am I getting this way wrong?

Or are we going to F*CK the environment even more for thirty days worth of fuel?

If I am right, why did I have to figure this out on my own. This should be repeated. Often and loudly.

We don't need better police training. "Training" for the job, especially while on the job

will never work. What we need is police education, requiring a degree. For one thing, four years of College changes one's mind. It makes one think and consider, or reconsider your future. The change is inevitable and it is permanent.

And it gives four years for professionals to watch over their students. Four years to grow out or weed out the chaff.

And that word- "student"- such a better word to start with than "recruit". It brings an immediate humility to the plebe rather than the warlike call of recruit.

Make Policing a profession the way Nursing has become one, through the university rather than the job site.
