Senator Admits UFO Whistleblower Report Tracks With Official Briefing

Source: Newsweek

Senator Josh Hawley said a recent UFO whistleblower's report is "pretty close" to information he received in a briefing after the United States shot down a spy balloon and other unidentified flying objects this past winter.
United States shot down a spy balloon and other unidentified flying objects this past winter.

The Missouri Republican said he wasn't surprised, but he was "disturbed" by David Grusch's claims that not only has the government found proof of but also covered up several "non-human" crafts and remains.

Grusch, a 36-year-old Airforce veteran, told NewsNation earlier this month that a top-secret military program found fully intact UFOs, or "unidentified aerial phenomena" (UAPs). Grusch, who previously worked as the National Reconnaissance Office's representative to the UAP Task Force, said that the U.S. covered up several "non-human origin" crafts and "dead pilots."

Newsweek reached out to Hawley via his website for comment. Grusch's claims could not be verified by Newsweek.

What's your opinion on the ending of this? Overkill or deserved? And what made this guy go nuts? He wasn't a kid, and it wasn't one person's car it was several.

Supreme Court upcoming case predictions

There's a few big cases left. What are your predictions? Will they surprise us like they did last week? Here's my predictions for three cases:

Student Loans: 5-4, upheld. We win this one.

Affirmative Action: 5-4, struck down. Huge loss.

Lorie Smith, who refuse to design wedding websites for same-sex couples: 7-2, SC sides with her.

What do you think? Any other big cases left?

Anyone else hoping Trump doesn't show up tomorrow?

My guess is that it would lead to an instant arrest.

The Iron Sheik, pro wrestling legend and Hall of Famer, dies at 81

Source: ESPN

The Iron Sheik, a standout Greco-Roman wrestler from Iran who gained global fame in professional wrestling with his 1980s rivalries against the likes of Hulk Hogan, died Wednesday at the age of 81, according to his official Twitter account.

Sheik, whose real name was Hossein Khosrow Ali Vaziri, was a former WWF World Heavyweight champion and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. As a hated heel, he had legendary battles in the 1980s against Hogan, Bob Backlund and Sgt. Slaughter. Vaziri beat Backlund for the WWF title in December 1983, and, one month later, Hogan defeated Vaziri in front of more than 20,000 at New York's Madison Square Garden to win the belt for the first time. The match helped catapult Hulkamania into a phenomenon, leading into the first WrestleMania one year later.

"With his larger than life persona, incredible charisma, and unparalleled in-ring skills, he captivated audiences around the globe," said the statement from his Twitter account. "He was a trailblazer, breaking barriers and paving the way for a diverse range of wrestlers who followed in his footsteps."

Before starting in professional wrestling, Vaziri was a bodyguard for the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. He was a Greco-Roman wrestler in his home country, nearly making the 1968 Olympic team. Vaziri then moved to the United States, where he won an AAU Greco-Roman wrestling championship at 180.5 pounds and became an assistant coach for the U.S. wrestling team, including its Olympic team in 1972.

Upcoming Supreme Court decisions

I read about a month ago that the SC is behind schedule, with many more decisions to go. Does anyone know if they caught up, and how many opinions are left to release?

Also, do you think any big ones will come out this week? Or will we still have to wait two or three weeks?

Manchin thanks GOP for permitting reform in debt deal

Source: The Hill

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) thanked Republicans on Sunday for helping secure permitting reform in the debt ceiling bill, a provision he has long fought to pass despite some pushback from factions of both parties.

“Oh, I say thank you. Absolutely. A big thank you for [Speaker] Kevin McCarthy [R-Calif.] and his leadership team. Our Republican colleagues in the Senate, all of us, have spearheaded this thing from day one,” Manchin said on “Fox News Sunday” with Shannon Bream.

The West Virginia senator had been pushing for permitting reform and faced pushback to some deals in the past from Republicans, who said certain bills did not go far enough, and from some progressive Democrats, who expressed concern over the potential harm it could cause to the environment.

“It became a political football last year,” Manchin said on Sunday. “We took it out of that arena and now good policy has come through.”

New West Virginia Senate poll: Manchin vs. Justice (Justice up by 22)

In a hypothetical 2024 U.S. Senate matchup in West Virginia, the latest ECU Poll shows Governor Jim Justice with a significant 22-point lead over incumbent Senator Joe Manchin, 54% to 32%, among registered voters in the state (with 13% undecided). The ECU Poll also finds Governor Justice with a job approval rating of 57% (with an overall net positive job approval rating of +28 percentage points; 57% approval compared to 29% disapproval). Senator Manchin, in contrast, holds a job approval rating of just 33% (with an overall net negative job approval rating of -26 percentage points; 33% approval compared to 59% disapproval).

Statement from President Joe Biden on Supreme Court Decision in Sackett v. EPA

The Supreme Court’s disappointing decision in Sackett v. EPA will take our country backwards. It puts our Nation’s wetlands – and the rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds connected to them – at risk of pollution and destruction, jeopardizing the sources of clean water that millions of American families, farmers, and businesses rely on.

Since the Clean Water Act was passed by an overwhelming bipartisan majority in Congress in 1972, it has been used by Republican and Democratic administrations alike to help ensure Americans in every state have clean water. It is the reason why today America’s lakes are swimmable, why we can fish in our streams and rivers, and why clean water comes out of our taps.

Today’s decision upends the legal framework that has protected America’s waters for decades. It also defies the science that confirms the critical role of wetlands in safeguarding our nation’s streams, rivers, and lakes from chemicals and pollutants that harm the health and wellbeing of children, families, and communities.

I am committed to protecting clean air and water for our kids for generations to come. My team will work with the Department of Justice and relevant agencies to carefully review this decision and use every legal authority we have to protect our Nation’s waters for the people and communities that depend on them. We will work with states, cities, and Tribal communities to pass and uphold critical protections for their residents. Through my Investing in America agenda, we’re already deploying historic resources in communities all across America to remove lead pipes, improve water quality, and rebuild the Nation’s drinking water infrastructure.

Edited to add that decision was unanimous (9-0) to avoid confusion.

Hillary Clinton Says Dianne Feinstein Should Not Resign

Source: NY Times

Hillary Clinton weighed in this week on a question that has occupied Senate Democrats and much of the party at large for months: whether Senator Dianne Feinstein of California should resign in light of mounting health problems that have made it difficult for her to do her job.

Mrs. Clinton’s answer was no — but largely based on anticipation that Republicans would exploit the vacancy, not on an evaluation of Ms. Feinstein’s health or performance.

“Here’s the dilemma: The Republicans will not agree to add someone else to the Judiciary Committee if she retires,” she told Time magazine on Monday, in an interview published Tuesday night. “I want you to think about how crummy that is. So I don’t know what’s in her heart about whether she really would or wouldn’t, but right now, she can’t. Because if we’re going to get judges confirmed, which is one of the most important continuing obligations that we have, then we cannot afford to have her seat vacant.”

Ms. Feinstein is recovering from shingles, encephalitis and Ramsay Hunt syndrome, all of which kept her out of the Senate for more than two months until early May. She has also been experiencing memory loss and faced some calls to step down even before her latest health problems. But it was her recent absence, which prevented Democrats from advancing some judicial nominations, that caused those calls to spread from mostly left-leaning voters to even a few Democratic colleagues in Congress.
