The Johnsons and Trumps and their sycophants and sidekicks have no notion of how regular people live. They have a deficiency of consideration, empathy and perspective taking. They are entitled to their very core. One only has to witness the egotistical, condescending and glib replies they give when their activities are probed, that is of course, if they decide us plebs should get the opportunity to question them at all. They stroll into positions of power they are evidently incompetent to hold ‘cause… white male rich privilege.
They exist within a protective bubble of advantage. They never have to take responsibility for their actions because they, and those that enable them, are never affected by the adverse outcomes we must suffer. Conveniently for them, as they destroy the foundations of post WW2 society, they are financially shielded from the mayhem their policies inflict. Worst of it is, the idiots that vote for these Wankers…they will feel the worse of it, and these destroyers do not give an actual fuck about them.

You know in the Handmaids Tale, when at the end of the book it is revealed that we are seeing her experiences through a post Gilead society, where her writings have been found after Gilead has fallen and a new society is examining her diaries as an anthropological exercise? Do you think that this might happen with our musings on DU? Think about it. We have seen such rapid change over the last three years. One might hope we are at the end of it, but history tells us that may be unlikely. If we are at the end of the post WW2 liberal progressive period of enlightenment, and are, instead, witness too the starting point of a new dark period in history, what we do and write here may be testimony to generations to come about the fall of our civilisations, and what counter measures we tried to take in word, thought and deed to overcome the darkness. These might be our diaries of hope in a world to come.
