Bloomberg seeks major tech talent for 2020

Mike Bloomberg is not asking Silicon Valley leaders for their money as he ramps up his presidential campaign, but he is asking them for a different kind of precious possession — their employees.

On Monday, Bloomberg’s campaign gathered hundreds of tech leaders on a conference call and asked them to refer their most talented technical colleagues and friends to Bloomberg’s gargantuan election operation in New York. Recode obtained access to the private call and registered for it.

The request made plain Bloomberg’s comfort with — and, in some ways, dependence on — the Silicon Valley companies that have been persistently criticized during the 2020 Democratic primary. Bloomberg’s rivals are going on the offensive against tech industry or downplaying their ties to it. But rather than minimizing his ties to Big Tech, Bloomberg is actively soliciting the industry’s help.

The call came at a time when the Democratic Party is assessing how far behind it is in the digital war it is waging with Republicans following a major technical setback in Iowa. Bloomberg is offering a new path — and is executing an unprecedentedly expensive political advertising campaign.

Folks, Bloomberg is going to overwhelm Trump. He won't know what hit him. Bloomberg is going to assemble the most massive presidential operation in American history to bring down Trump once and for all. No other candidate can do this...not even Bernie. Bloomberg is going to spend $2 billion to finish Trump off and we're gonna need every penny of it to counter the dirt coming.

Would a Bloomberg nomination free up DNC cash to help Congressional candidates?

Serious question...if Bloomberg is the nominee and plans to self-finance his run, could the DNC just use the $500 million+ they were preparing to spend for the nominee and just transfer it to the Senate and House races? Would that not be a bonanza of cash to help Pelosi keep her job and elevate Schumer to majority leader? How big of a deal would this be?

I'm not saying that I'm supporting Bloomberg, but this does make you go...hmmm....

There's not going to be a 'revolution' at the voting booth for Bernie

We've been hearing for months from the likes of Michael Moore and AOC that there all these 18-24 yr olds are going to flood the polls for Bernie cause they're so enthused to vote him. We've been hearing about how there's no need to go after moderate voters cause the young will come out and overwhelm the voting booths. Well what happened in Iowa? Bernie did worse this year than he did 2016.

My point is that if we as a party depend on this mythical youth and previous non-voters turnout to overwhelm the polls in order to beat Trump, then we will lose 40 states. The truth is we need to reach out to swing voters as well.

Does a nominee Sanders fire the DNC infrastructure?

I'm thinking Perez would be gone. I think he would put in AOC as head of the DNC, or maybe Nina Turner. What say you?

I'm warming up to Bloomberg

I can't believe I'm saying this, but he's my 2nd choice behind Biden right now. I guess those countless ads are working on me too! So far, I'm liking what I'm hearing from him. I also think he may be the most potent against Trump, if only cause he's going to use a lot of his own money.

Might Iran launch a cyberattack and release the Mueller Report?

I've read their cyber hacking ability is supreme. Might they hack the DOJ and release the Mueller Report? Or maybe hack Deutsche Bank and release Trump's records? Hack the IRS and get his taxes? Any idea where they could target? Where they could hurt him the most?

Did a FoxNews host actually figure out Biden's appeal?

Former Vice President Joe Biden's recent comment that he could be open to choosing a Republican running mate reminded Fox & Friends guest co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy of another American leader—President Donald Trump.

"There's an element of Trump in there," Campos-Duffy said on Tuesday. "You just don't know what's going to come out of Joe Biden and I think that the voters really want that."

As much as I can't stand that dimwit, she may actually be on to something. I think a lot of people are wondering why the hell Joe Biden hasn't collapsed in the polls so far. Every gaffe and misstatement has been picked on and picked at on the internet and TV, but yet Biden still holds a commanding lead in the polls. Maybe it's simply Joe is Joe. He's an old school politician that doesn't use talking points and sound like everything that comes out of his mouth is poll tested. I think Americans appreciate Joe Biden's honestly and faults and how he says what he means. This is why he'll be the next president of the United States.

42 year old Andy Beshear sworn in as Kentucky Governor

at midnight tonight. The inauguration is set for today (Tuesday). This guy has a bright future ahead of him at his young age. I'm so proud our state elected him. His appointments have been stellar so far.

Beshear's victory in Kentucky will help Joe Biden

Andy Beshear ran the best ground game of any Democratic candidate in Kentucky in recent memory. Make no mistake about it, Beshear is a progressive but he is a pragmatist in the mold of Joe Biden. Beshear said he was willing to work with Republicans when necessary for the betterment of the state. Beshear didn't need AOC or Bernie Sanders to come here and drum up votes.

Beshear also shows that it's possible to win in deep red counties. He carried several counties in Appalachia in coal country! And even in the counties where he lost, he kept the margins down. He spent a lot of time talking to eastern Kentuckians and it paid off big time.

Beshear also got out the African-American vote in Louisville! He had a HUGE turnout in Louisville which cemented his victory.

The point is that it's possible to have a candidate that can appeal to both rural and urban voters and get them out the polls.

I believe it's wrong to say that only a far left candidate can win. It's very possible to have a candidate that can appeal to both minorities and rural voters and get them out to the polls. And Joe Biden fits that profile perfectly. It's a mistake to say that we must nominate a candidate that only aims to inspire the left to the polls. You can still inspire the left and get rural voters too. Beshear has showed how this can be done.

Lastly, Beshear campaigned on supporting the ACA. He is not a supporter of Medicare for All. So this a sign that supporting ACA is a political winner, not M4A. It makes me wonder if Gillium hurt himself by supporting M4A.

KY-GOV Elect Andy Beshear would've been an ideal 2020 candidate

Youthful, progressive (but not a flame thrower), able to win statewide twice in a deep red state, great campaigner, handsome with a beautiful family and nearly no baggage. It's too late for 2020, but keep an eye on him going forward!
