A week ago I posted that my sister had passed of cancer.

Thanks to all for the responses and support. DU has been my go to for information, inspiration, and support. Thank you.

My little sister died yesterday. She was 58. Pancreatic cancer. I turned 65 the day before that.

Cancer has turned into a family thing. My dad died at 65 of lung cancer. My oldest brother died at 56 of multiple myeloma. A sister 3 years older than me was just treated for breast cancer. My family just seems prone to the nastiest of cancers.

Every time I had to read about an anti vaxer or an anti masker I became very angry. My 2 sisters and a brother who went through a series of strokes were in and out of hospitals throughout the worse of the pandemic. Every time someone here posted about losing a family member to covid I cried for them.

We all have our own experience through all of this. While raised to be tolerant of others, I no longer have extended it to republicans. I will be polite but I will not be silent. I hope my intolerance of republicans intolerance makes a difference. We are watching "A Small Light" about the people who defied the Nazis in WWII and helped Anne Frank and her family. It is inspiring.

My family is all democrats. I don't remember ever being told how to vote or even much political discussion in my large family of 7 kids. We were encouraged not to argue politics or religion. Raised to be accepting of others and to embrace our differences. I am lucky we have no Trumpers in my family. But I think my family has reached its limit. A few weeks ago we all got together for the first time in years. My sister wanted one last gathering. And I could feel the frustration simmering in my stoic family.

We did talk religion and politics. We are all angry about anti everything. I have lots of teachers in my family and they were telling me about their live shooter plans for their schools. We talked about Ron Johnson and what an idiot he is. We discussed Medicare for all and what a fight it is to get treatments ok'd by insurance companies. And how both sisters had to fight said companies while also fighting cancer. We talked about how hard it is for our kids to purchase homes.

And I will tell you, none if us blamed anyone in the democratic party. And my usually calm family is angry. And that anger is focused on republicans.

Thank you for letting me vent.

I turned 65 yesterday, so I am now considered elderly.

I have found that my heating pad and my back scratcher are very helpful. I look forward to finding more help for my quickly aging body. And cutting out most news is good for my zen. I hope everyone finds something that makes life easier and happier.

I went out in public today. For the first time since my last booster.

I needed to get glasses while I still have eyeglass insurance. Turning 65 in May. So the first thing I see was a huge yard sign for Dan Kelly for WI supreme court. Got to eye appointment, and while there 2 people covered in 2nd amendment hoodies with the cross rifle tag came in.

I then went to look at a senior apartment as the complex we have lived in for 6 years raises our rent by $300.00 per month. They have raised it 50.00 per month each year for the past 6 years. We have never missed a payment and are really good tenants. I guess that is not enough.

I had my husband bring me home, sore tired and discouraged. And to the news of another school shooting.

I have given up watching the news, pretty much keeping up to date with links on DU. And all I could think was people say don't shoot the messenger.

Well, I think the messenger has to do better at how they are approaching shootings, in particular school shootings.

Because the messengers are not getting shot, the children are.

It is almost like the Republicans want the country distracted from a truly horrible

day 2 years ago.

My husband as well as myself keep getting invites to Republican stuff.

We are not nor have we ever been republicans. The latest is a gathering with desantos michels and their minions. We usually just politely text back STOP. My husband is losing patience and texted back to them
"What dumb fuck scheduled this in Green Bay the night of a Packer Bear game. Guess Michels isnt really from Wisconsin. Dumb shit"

Never posted here, but enjoy following ma.

I need to regroup and music has always helped with getting my head on. My grandson spends one week end now but with us. At night he and I calm down watching mellow streaming. Last night it was Neil Degrasse Tyson.

In the mornings wake him up to music. This morning it is Playing for Change on you tube. They play many songs of my past by musicians from around the world. Such great voices and all sorts of different instruments.

I will be back in the fight soon, just a much needed recharge.

Does anyone else wonder how many DOJ lawyers are members of the federalist society?

To the corporations that are offering to transport women to where the can have abortions.

Why thank you.

But maybe, you could withdraw political donations to politicians and groups who are making this necessary.
Or maybe you could pull out of states that make abortion illegal.

Because you know that not many women are going to tell their bosses about an unwanted pregnancy. So this offer costs you almost nothing.

And how are you going to deal with the religious fanatics that will require that you require that said women need to have a waiting period and watch a series of videos about the evils of abortion.

And are you going to provide babysitting for said employees other children while they have to travel and be gone so long for abortion that could be provided at a clinic in their neighborhood.

And what are you going to do about the crazy people who work for you who decide to dox their co workers for having abortion because they feel empowered by living where abortion has been made illegal.

I can picture the meetings that corporate America is having. A bunch of mostly guys saying yes, this will work, we can stay out of it for the cost of a taxi. Even though 70% of Americans want Ror v Wade to remain.

No corporate america, you are not allowed to stay out of this. You need to stand up to these religious fanatics. You cannot say you are helping by putting a band aid on aneurism. You need to do more.

And we need to insist on more from you.
