This Is the Entire 2020 Election in One Screenshot

On February 5, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy left a Trump administration briefing on the Coronavirus and fired off a tweet: “Bottom line. They aren’t taking this seriously enough…Local health systems need supplies, training, screening staff.”

On March 9 Donald Trump—with access to an additional month’s worth of data and intelligence—fired off a tweet of his own…comparing the virus to the flu and suggesting that “life and the economy go on.”

Taken together, it looks like this:

What Trump said in 2016 debate about a president keeping us safe

Transcript of exchange between Jeb Bush, Rubio and Trump from 2016 debate.
He was asked about comments he made about Impeaching Bush.

TRUMP: How did he keep us safe when the World Trade Center—the World—excuse me. I lost hundreds of friends. The World Trade Center came down during the reign of George Bush. He kept us safe? That is not safe. That is not safe, Marco. That is not safe.

RUBIO: The World Trade Center came down because Bill Clinton didn’t kill Osama bin Laden when he had the chance to kill him.

TRUMP: And George Bush—by the way, George Bush had the chance, also, and he didn’t listen to the advice of his CIA.

So according to Trump, then president Bush should have kept us safe. We know Trump was lying, but he was insinuatng he lost hundreds of friends because Bush did not keep us safe.

Fastforward to 2020 - When asked about responsibility, he said he had no responsibility.

Its the little things that you take for granted, a phone

So we started working from home this week. I work in mental health. All our appts are now video chat and telephone sessions.

So I knew we were getting ready to do this, so I have been preparing my clients that I see more regularly. I work for a community mental health clinic and see a lot of people that have no insurance and live in poverty. Some are homeless and live in shelters. Their regular contact with me for medication management and coming to see a counselor helps them manage their illness. Some are dealing with addiction issues, still struggling or in recovery.
As I was letting my regular clients know the clinic will be closed for several weeks, quite a few told me they did not have a phone. Therefore, no way for them to continue their appts. There are those times, like this when I have to hide my own emotions during a session.
I have one particular client that I have been working with for a few months now to stabilize and manage his meds, he has quite an anger problem, has been kicked out of all the local shelters. He is living in the woods now. Last time I saw him, he expressed remorse for his reaction at the last shelter and regretted his action. That was huge for him. I worry about people like him. Many are in and out of jail due to their mental health or addiction. I know the clinic is more than just a clinic to them. So not having a phone, to keep in contact with the clinic will probably affect them negatively.

Its the little things, that we take for granted. Most of us probably can't think of how we existed without our cellphones.

Got an email from our CEO a few days ago, saying calls to the new patient intake dept was way up... DU, take care of your emotional well being and mental health. There will be hard days ahead.

Ashley Parker: Advisers told Trump he 'will own these deaths'

That's the reason Trump backed off. Not for some imaginary friend, or he suddenly found empathy after seeing bodies lined up at Elmhurst Hospital.
His campaign folks told him he is going to own these deaths. They told him No one is blaming him for the economy tanking, but they will blame him if he pushes to re-open businesses and and the infection rates go up and bodies start piling up. This is all political as usual.

Remembering Covid 19 Victims- Behind every stat is a loved one

The statistics are staggering. They take your breath away. Behind every " stat" is someone's loved one. It is not my intention to make this a macabre thread. But to remind folks that there are real people behind those numbers and this is why people need to stay home. Encourage your friends and family to stay home. It is the sacrifice we must make at this time to save not only our lives, but the lives of someone's mother, daughter, son, wife, husband, daughter, best friend, lover.

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes for this family. Such a beautiful family.

Grieving family says goodbye to dying coronavirus-stricken mom via walkie talkie

A grieving family had to say goodbye to their dying mother in Washington State via walkie-talkie, as she was deemed too contagious during her losing battle with the coronavirus.
The six children of 42-year-old widow Sundee Rutter could only stare helplessly through a small window into their mother’s isolation room and speak to her via a walkie-talkie, its counterpart propped on her pillow, they told BuzzFeed News.

Sundee, who had battled stage 4 breast cancer, was stricken in early March and died about two weeks later.
“I told her I love her ... she shouldn’t worry about the kids,” Elijah Ross-Rutter, the fourth of her six children, told Buzzfeed News.

He, his five siblings and Rutter’s mother were on hand to bid farewell via the handheld radio device, BuzzFeed News said. The children range in age from 13 to 24, with the eldest about to graduate from college. He is seeking guardianship of the youngest three, who are in middle and high school, and will use the money raised by a GoFundMe account set up by a family friend to procure stable housing.

He wants oversight over masks?? But not for the money corporations

might get in the relief package? Seriously! This man is so damn twisted. I have yet to hear him talk about the bravery and sacrifice of the people putting their lives on the line. Nurses have already lost their lives on the frontline. Yet he's insulting these brave people while praising corporations. Shameful!

I am always happy to hear people that voted for Trump say they won't vote for him this time

HOWEVER, I'm always wondering what did you see then? He has not changed. He is exactly who he showed himself to be before you voted for him. The following is from an article on Rawstory. Those 2 paragraphs stood out to me. I hate to pick on this voter but,

He's appalled now? He does not act like commander in chief? What made you think he would act like a commander in chief? Was it when he said he would grab women by their private parts? Or was it when he was mocking war heroes or the disabled? Was it when he was using grade school insults for members of his own political party? Was it when he disrespected John McCain? Was it when he was lying repeatedly? Was it when he was asking Russia for help?

Molloy backed Trump in 2016, but he has become disillusioned over time and has been appalled by the president’s handling of the coronavirus crisis.

“He’s constantly sending mixed messages, and that’s totally unacceptable,” Molloy said. “It’s been the story of his administration. His behavior, his tweets — he just does not act like a commander in chief, and it’s gotten even worse with this crisis.”

Fox News linked fish tank cleaner to Trump's recommended coronavirus treatment

Irresponsible reporting. I know they are not known for being responsible journalists, but they should have known, with their gullible audience, this kind of reporting could be deadly.

][link:https://www.mediamatters.org/coronavirus-covid-19/fox-news-linked-fish-tank-cleaner-trumps-recommended-coronavirus-treatment-man|

The Fox article hypes the spike in prices of fish tank cleaners containing chloroquine phosphate without clearly explaining that outside of its approved pharmaceutical form and dosage, chloroquine phosphate can be toxic and deadly -- though it does mention that it’s not for “human consumption” at the end of the third paragraph. Considering most Americans don’t read past the headline of an article, it is not only irresponsible but outright idiotic for Fox to imply such equivalence in the article title during a pandemic when people are desperate to find ways to protect themselves.

The article also stated that “President Trump announced in a press conference Thursday that chloroquine phosphate -- a substance found in drugs used to treat malaria and severe arthritis -- was cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to test as a treatment for the coronavirus.” (The FDA has not approved the drug for treatment of COVID-19.) As of this morning, the article remains live on Fox’s website, without any updates or clarifications.

It wasn't just Fox News, either. Articles like this were elsewhere in right-wing media. There was a similar article in News Corp's New York Post:

Direct link to Fox Article that is still posted. Just unbelievable!
