Sanders needs to change 'tone' if he wants NY debate

Source: The Hill

A top aide to Hillary Clinton's campaign on Monday dodged questions about setting up a debate with Bernie Sanders in New York, saying it depends on the senator's "tone."

"This is a man who said he'd never run a negative ad ever. He's now running them. They're planning to run more," Joel Benenson, Clinton's chief strategist, said on CNN. "Let's see the tone of the campaign he wants to run before we get to any other questions."

After winning a trio of states over the weekend, Sanders on Sunday called for a debate in New York ahead of that state's April 19 primary. The Vermont senator is looking to cut into Clinton's delegate lead and says he has the "momentum" heading into the latter half of the race.

The pair faced off in a Miami debate earlier this month, and a Sanders campaign letter on Sunday said the two campaigns had agreed to a California debate in May but had not agreed to terms on a debate in April, according to The New York Times.

Obama endorses DNC chair Wasserman Schultz for re-election to Congress

Source: UPI

WESTON, Fla., March 28 (UPI) -- President Barack Obama has endorsed Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz in her re-election bid in the House of Representatives as she faces a noticeable challenge from candidate Tim Canova.

"Debbie has been a strong, progressive leader in Congress and a hardworking, committed chair of our national party since I proudly nominated her to the role in 2011," Obama said in the endorsement announced by the Wasserman Schultz campaign. "Throughout my time as president I have seen Debbie bring an unwavering commitment to her family, her constituents, and our shared goals of protecting seniors, supporting working families and expanding economic opportunity for more people."

Wasserman Schultz will face off against Canova in the August Democratic primary for Florida's 23rd Congressional district, which has been historically held by Democrats.

"President Obama has led this country from the depths of the Great Recession to an unprecedented period of private-sector job growth and low unemployment, and I've been proud to stand by him and help advance his agenda in Congress," Wasserman Schultz said in a statement. "His endorsement means so much to me, and inspires me to work even harder for the people of Florida's 23rd Congressional district.

Obama Privately Tells Donors That Time Is Coming to Unite Behind Hillary Clinton

Source: The New York Times

In unusually candid remarks, President Obama privately told a group of Democratic donors last Friday that Senator Bernie Sanders is nearing the point where his campaign against Hillary Clinton will come to an end, and that the party must soon come together to back her.

Mr. Obama acknowledged that Mrs. Clinton is perceived to have weaknesses as a candidate, and that some Democrats did not view her as authentic.

But he played down the importance of authenticity, noting that President George W. Bush — whose record he ran aggressively against in 2008 — was once praised for his authenticity.

Mr. Obama made the remarks after reporters had left a fund-raising event in Austin, Tex., for the Democratic National Committee. The comments were described by three people in the room for the event, all of whom were granted anonymity to describe a candid moment with the president. The comments were later confirmed by a White House official.

Free Beer Tomorrow

I've seen this sign at several bars over the years. It obviously a joke, as the sign always stays up, and tomorrow never comes.

This is what this primary is coming to. One of the campaigns keeps insisting that next week their candidate will start closing the gap in pledged delegates.

Ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle attacked in bloody Colorado prison brawl

Source: New York Daily News

Convicted pedophile and ex-Subway pitchman Jared Fogle was pummeled in a vicious prison yard attack, according to a new report.

The disgraced Indiana sex offender suffered a swollen face, scratched neck and bloody nose at the hands of convicted armed robber Steven Nigg during the Jan. 29 beatdown at Colorado's Englewood FCI, a low-security prison in Litton, according to TMZ.

Nigg, 60, tackled Fogle during the brawl and pummeled his face in the facility’s recreation yard.

Nigg, who is serving time for a gun conviction tied to a decades-old Arizona crime spree, walked away from fracas unscathed, save for a cut-up hand, but was punished with solitary confinement, the site reported.

Bernie tried to win Illinois by attacking a fellow Democrat (Rahm Emmanuel). Whoops!

Hillary squeaked by with a margin of 34,000 votes in Illinois. She would not have won without the 55,000 vote margin she garnered in Chicago. Sanders thought that he could score some easy points by kicking another Democrat when he was down. Kharma's a bitch, isn't it?

I didn't vote in the Florida primary today!

I voted last week. By mail. I used the postage-paid envelope. No one asked me for ID.

As much as people like to rip in Florida elections, they certainly have so easy that there really is no excuse not to vote here.

When will Bernie release the transcripts from his 1988 Soviet Union 'honeymoon?'

I know, we're not supposed to call it a honeymoon, even though his wife went on the trip with him and it began the day after they got married. So go ahead and call it whatever you want.

Did he give any speeches during this non-honeymoon trip? If so, when will he release the transcripts?
